Vegan cuisine on point - Edit
We went there because it was highly recommended. We seated on the chef’s corner, it was a really nice experience.

Fancy date night spot - Edit
I ate in their heated outdoor space for a date night. It was fairly well spaced, heated, and comfortable. The service was excellent. Our server described all items and offered great suggestions. Each dish was innovative and tasty. It’s an upscale vegan dining experience experience worthy of a nice night out.

Avant Garden - Edit
This is an extremely lovely place to eat at in New York. The restaurant is in a hip area and the food is presented beautifully. I can’t remember the names of the menu items I got (I have attached photos of them), but everything I had was very tasty. I simply love the presentation! Definitely a place that should not be missed.

Must stop in nyc - Edit
I waited way too long to try avant- garden. Such a stellar tapas restaurant. While the carbonara, toasts and mushroom dish were incredible, the salad was actually my favorite and something I think back on super fondly. Such a fun date night spot

Good food but there’s a room for improvement in their overall services. - Edit
The place was compact though food was flavorful . Went there for husbands birthday but I guess they don’t believe in complimentary desserts if going for occasion. For food it’s 5/5 but overall they can do better.

Delicious and fresh tapas type restaurant - Edit
We had a salad, toast, and pasta. All were good but next time we would get the paella instead of the pasta. The outdoor dining smelled like lysol. But we were there very early, 5 pm, so maybe it's better later in the evening

Fabulous - Edit
We enjoyed every dish, some more than others. The carbonara was *exceptional.* One thing: Their sponge cake was very miss-able. Next time, we'll skip dessert and just have another one of their amazing small dishes.

One of Best Restaurants in NYC - Edit
Fantastic vegan restaurant in East Village. One of my top 2-3 choices in NYC for where to take non-vegan family, friends and colleagues, and the feedback from them has been universally and highly positive.
Read moreMenu is creative and always delicious. The menu is usually broken down into toast, cold, and hot, and the plates are meant for sharing. High quality wine list focused on natural wines. Service is typically excellent. Part of the Ravi Derossi group of vegan restaurants/bars.

Best vegan restaurant I've ever been to. - Edit
This is hands down the best vegan place. When I fist became vegan it was a lot about finding substitutes for meals I knew. The first time I went to Avant Garden everything changed. I finally understood veganism is not about finding substitutes of food we grew up knowing but cooking with what we already have (veggies, grains, etc). This restaurant has a great menu that tells you what the dish is and they prepare the food in the most amazing way. Everyone is friendly there, the service is great and the food I think I made it clear is the best. Price is like any other NYC fine dining or regular restaurant, not pricey at all. Wine selection is great as well.
Read moreI can keep saying great things about this place but I think you get it: this is a place you should def give it a try (and you most definitely will come back).
Pros: Food is great, Wine selection, Service
Cons: You need a reservation, almost always full

Amazing high-end vegan dining - Edit
Avant Garden is a small, beautiful, high end restaurant. The menu is a bit unusual; it consists of small dishes that the table is expected to share, in a sort of do-it-yourself tasting menu arrangemnt. Two people would probably need to order four to make a meal. The food is excellent, and there's a good if small wine list. Our waiter was extremely helpful in guiding our selections. The only negative I can list is that the menu isn't particularly good at describing the dishes; without talking to the waiter, you will probably not guess what any of them are like.

Cons: Relatively expensive, The menu isn't nearly descriptive enough

Creative and Unique Vegan Dining - Edit
Fantastic, tiny vegan restaurant located in NYC’s East Village.

Creative and superbly executed vegan food that will never make you feel like you're missing meat. The portion sizes are small but it’s expected that purchase as much food as you want here from their Hot, Cold, and Toast options. We had the Hen of the Woods and the Celery Root—delectable and left us wanting more.
Service**
It took over 15 mins until a waiter approached our table. This was the only negative. The restaurant was not busy at all so this was a bit confounding. We had two waiters and one of them was very friendly but the other was not.
Atmosphere****
Cute, cozy, quiet, and warm.
Price$$$
Pricey but worth it!
Pros: Creative and unique food, Incredibly delicious
Cons: Service was less than stellar, Expensive

Top notch restaurant - Edit
This is a classy place with delicious food. I came here with two friends; the waiter recommended we order three entrees and two small plates and split it--like a tasting menu. Everything was elegant and incredibly delicious. We shared two desserts as well--again, extremely delicious. The food is pricey, but you do get great food in return.

Pricey, but worth it - Edit
Every dish was delicious; the atmosphere was cost and warm; service was excellent. Favorite dish - avocado, by far. I could eat that every day. I love to dine at restaurants where I don’t feel like I could have made that dish; Avant Garden is definitely one of those. I’ll be back to try their other dishes.

It was so good! - Edit
We really enjoyed our dinner here. Followed the recommendation and ordered five dishes to share—avocado, sunchoke, cauliflower, hen of the woods, and paella—and they were all absolutely delicious. Then we had the vanilla cake for dessert to round out our meal, natch. I'd say the 2-3 dishes per person suggestion was pretty spot-on. We left sated. Portions were actually more generous than I'd expected. Not cheap for sure but very much worth it!

My fav restaurant in the city - Edit
I bring omnivores/friends here, but it’s a delight to eat here solo bc at the bar, you can really watch the chefs cook. It’s DELICIOUS.
Read moreI’d come here hungry and pick 3 items dessert. The toasts are very filling. This location is also better more popular than the Williamsburg one. Make sure to make a reservation if you don’t feel like waiting 1 hour for a table. The first time I went was actually during a snowstorm in 2017 bc I knew it would be relatively empty and easier to get in, and there were still other folks there.
Pros: ALL VEGAN, Inventive food
Cons: Very expensive , Hard to get in without a reservation
