Phenomenal - Edit
Went here for an anniversary dinner with my husband.
Read moreA beautiful location with nice decor. Clean and upscale. Staff were all very on point and professional. They even had a sign on our table wishing us a happy anniversary.
We were gifted a complimentary glass of sparkling wine which was quite nice.
We tried the cremini toast which I really enjoyed. Many layers to tantalize your tongue!
The artichoke toast was also nice, it had this fresh burst of summer but I didn't feel it had many layers of flavour.
The hen of the woods was by far the best dish we had. It was out of this world delicious.
The celery root was well done and tasty but wasn't a show stopper imo.
Paella was superb. Really enjoyed it. The red pepper sauce was delish.
Lava cake for dessert was decadent and blew my socks right off. Probably one of the best desserts I've ever had.
Highly recommend 😋

Just so good… - Edit
This was my first dining stop on this short trip to NYC and it was a good one. I was lucky to experience their new location. Not only was the food excellent, but the restaurant decor and ambience were impressive. If I had to choose favorites, I would come back for the Home Made Spaghetti, the Scorched Cauliflower and their vegan chocolate soufflé with ice cream. Highly, highly recommend.
Read morePros: Food was top notch , Great ambience
Cons: Expensive, but worth it , Tricky to find (it’s on the second floor)

Unique and delicious - Edit
Really amazing dishes that I feel are unique and not what I would expect. I love that you get many small dishes to try and share. I love the ambience as well: low-light and cozy.

Great service and even better food - Edit
We came here for an elevated and intimate dinner. The ambiance is dark and romantic. We were guided through the menu by our incredibly kind server to help us achieve the best experience. It was delicious start to finish. All dishes are designed for sharing, and coursed out. We ordered 4 dishes 1 dessert for 2 people - it was just the right amount of food. We ordered the sunchoke toast, roasted carrots, hen of the woods mushroom, paella, and the chocolate lava cake. The sunchoke toast and the chocolate lava cake were the stars.

Great date night spot - Edit
First off, everything we got was incredible. It’s a small plate kind of menu so 3 or 4 dishes is a about right for 2 people. We got 4 (plus partner got dessert) and it was more than enough.
Read moreThe beet toast was topped with deliciously spiced crunchy roasted chickpeas—could have used more in my opinion—but still very good. The scorched cauliflower, roasted carrot, and paella were all so good, not sure I could pick a favorite. The presentation was beautiful and overall great date atmosphere. I recommend sitting at the chef’s counter to watch them assemble the dishes.
Edit: I want to come back and try the other toasts, especially the artichoke.

Liked it but will not come back - Edit
Was really looking forward to discovering this place based on the overly positive reviews. Overall a nice place and good food but nothing special - neither the food, nor the service or ambiance. Definitely on the pricier side so I don’t really think I will come back because, once again, just didn’t feel like any of it was that good. The dishes that I liked the most were the artichoke toast and the cauliflower main👌

All-vegan fine dining - really good! - Edit
Great all vegan menu served family style (shared plates). We had one thing each from the cold (avocado on fried sushi rice) the toast menu (artichoke) and hot menu (paella) and they were all excellent. We also had a nice carmenere wine that was different than our usual choices and quite good. So fun to have all vegan fine, but not stuffy, dining. Highly recommended!

Food was okay, service: deplorable - Edit
Service: Our waiter, a relatively tall guy with a hat of sorts and a horrible attitude. Blurted all information at us, not to us, in a rushed, monotonous tone that seemed robotic. He had so much bad attitude on seemingly incomprehensible issues that it stained the taste of the food. He actually did a walk-off, after I tried to clear with him, that the reason we didn’t order dessert right away, was because we’d see how full we were. He had apparently taken this as a personal offense after instructing us that everything had to be ordered at once. His reply was: “We’ll, then just trust us!”, and he turned and walked out on us.
Read moreThis is the most deplorable service I’ve ever experienced, and I hope the management deals with this. Some other tables were rolling their eyes at the waiter, too, and he almost made it an effort to destroy an otherwise pleasant atmosphere.
Food: The food was good, but no amazing. Their toast bears the quality of a very good lunch, however their pasta dish was very, very delicious. 3/5 for food, but with the tainted flavor of the horrible service staining the experience, I cannot give but 2/5. Disappointing…

My friend and I split 3 dishes: avocado, romesco toast, and scorched cauliflower. It was pretty filling but maybe would order one more dish next time. The avocado was the star of the show, I’d go back just for that. Delicious drink options as well

Great Homemade Food - Edit
Avant- Garden is a great little vegan restaurant. The beet toast, charred salad, brussel sprouts, watermelon salad and watermelon gazpacho were tasty. The charred Ceaser salad was the best of them all. The service and beer (Farmhouse Ale) were excellent.

My all time favorite - Edit
Can’t believe that I hadn’t rated them yet. This is the first ever nicer place I ate at after I’d quit meat. We’ve been here so many times for all kinds of celebrations and date nights and with friends and family visiting. Service is always very personable and attentive, even today although it was new people working there. I love it that the menu has stayed mainly the same. There are our definite all time favorites there and some really, really good, new ones.

Incredible service and food. The staff recommend ordering four options between two, we don’t have the largest appetites so three dishes were perfect for us. The cauliflower dish was a little hard in places, however the other two dishes we ordered were just perfect!
