Beware of the open mic! - Edit
I was thrilled to find a spot of vegan options open late on a Sunday...but this place has open mic ever night. Sunday is comedy. It's a cute little hipster divey spot, which is very cozy and nice...except the small nature of the space means that entering means walking through someone's stand-up set. When I went, there was just one man running the entire place. Counter, food prep, bartending, coffee, etc. it was far from fast service, and they were out of several things on the menu. The food was decent, but I would only return outside of open mic hours.

Nostalgic - Edit
Mixed feelings! I have a soft spot for Austin’s. I came here during high school for shows, so it has a special place in my history.
Read moreAs an adult, it felt kind of lackluster. They don’t have cold brew, which is odd for a coffee shop in 2024. The vegan quiche is no more. The sandwiches we ordered were okay, but tasted a bit freezer burned. The pasta salad on the side was extremely undercooked. It felt expensive for pretty mediocre and likely microwaved food. The music today was good, previously it felt like walking into a Hot Topic, but they play it so loud (which is fine)- but I’m always looking for new places to read and this will definitely not be added to my rotation.
That said- I appreciate they have vegan options. I won’t be going out of my way in the future, but I’m happy to see Austin’s is still open and providing options for the vegan folks.

Good coffee, nice vibe 👍🏼 - Edit
Very cool vibe. The Avocado salad was great. Opted for the vegan style chiken w/ vegan bacon bits.

Good food, comfy vibe - Edit
We love Austin Coffee. I had the Rocketship Po’ Boy which was great—vegan chick-un with pickles, tomatoes and a spicy sauce on a hero roll. Pasta salad was just okay though.

Love it! - Edit
This coffee house is not for everyone but I love it. It has a dive bar type of feel to it but with the comfort of a coffee house. Every time I've been there they always have at least one fresh vegan dessert plus the coffee is very well made.

If you like hipster coffee vibes…it’s a must go - Edit
I HIGHLY recommend the vegan frost!! I have missed frozen coffee and this is the only place I’ve seen a clearly marked vegan one. The atmosphere is great! They have books, games, and people actually talk to each other. I dream of the day that I am a local and can become a regular!

An overly sentimental review - Edit
Some of my best memories from high school are from coming here late at night for open mic nights--poetry, comedy, live music. Always reliably open, always with something to eat. If the vegan quiche is gone, the world is poorer for it. I would come here for a pot of tea and a slice of cake even if the tea was bad and the cake was a dry crumbly mess, but it's not, so more's the pleasure. There's a wall of books and board games that are the worse for wear, and yes actually I have had long conversations with strangers for hours at two am here that made me view other people as richer and more worthy of compassion (recently, not as a teenager). Yes, this is an absurdly poetic review, but I think Austin's is still a special place. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

Great Place with a great vibe - Edit
Austins has a certain charm to it. Its that perfect charm that makes you come back day after day.
Read moreThey try hard to offer vegan options. The vegan egg salad sandwich is usually what i order and it always seems to taste differently. The assortment of vegan desserts are probably the best thing there. Vegan cookies SO good.
Pros: atmosphere, great drinks, excellent food
Cons: food always tastes different, healthy portions

Great Atmosphere Here. - Edit
The Owner and Help were just as pleasant as could be, we really enjoyed all the intricate art throughout the entire cafe - the chairs, tables, bathrooms, even the bricks on the interior walls are individually painted. As far as the food goes, we really enjoyed the grilled meatless sandwiches they can quickly serve. I also tried a new beer out of Eureka, California named 'Alley Cat' that would warrant a 30 mile drive just to taste... It was excellent to say the least, and went perfect with the meal. We were all pleased with the great staff and the well cooked food.

Best Barista's in Town, and kick-[censored] sandwhiches! - Edit
You are consistently greeted with someone who's warm, and welcoming. They are always willing to guide you through their menu. Ownership is constantly present as most Independents they're not. Coffee is outstanding but so is their rasberry-walnut salad. I definitely suggest a visit.
