Good fresh veggie food

I went in 2016 at their old location. The food was good, and there were lots of options. The mango sticky rice was especially good.

Best Thai Vegetarian / Vegan food

Gastronomic delight. Wonderful flavours just popping in the mouth. Beats my previous best for Thai Vegetarian / Vegan food. Customized dishes for my special requirement of no egg, onion and garlic.

Pros: Family run, very friendly, Will customize dishes according to requirement, Pocket friendly

Cons: Parking is limited

Everything I ate was delicious!!

Veggies and vegans are spoilt for choice in Chiang Mai but this place is a must! I tried the fresh spring rolls, avocado maki and a tofu curry and every bite was full of flavour. The staff were very attentive and organised. Prices are reasonable and the seating area is spacious and pleasant. You won't be disappointed, give it a go!

Pros: So many options and variety of choice.

Our Favorite Chiang Mai Restaurant

Great selection, fast service, friendly staff, good pricing. Have eaten at Aum 4 times in last 8 days and will return. Have introduced friends as well who all agree the Aum experience is a winner.

Quiet and cute

The restaurant as noted in other reviews is off the main area so it isn’t super crowded or crazy. There are two levels, if you sit upstairs you’re going to be in the lower / ground tables.

Good amount of options, for a good price. I got 3 things and a drink because I couldn’t decide.

Papaya salad, spring rolls, glass noodle soup, and a carrot, ginger and orange juice.

Pros: Many options

A lovely restaurant with many choices! Tucked away at the end of a side street, it is quiet and calm there. It's beautiful sitting upstairs with a book while you enjoy your meal!

Not what it used to be 3.5/5

I first visited Aum 11 years ago when it was still near the Thapae Gate & I liked it then, however I really didn't like it when I last visited. Staff were not friendly and the food was only a bit above average. I'll probably not visit when I'm next in CM in January.

Pros: Lots of healthy options

Cons: Weird uncomfortable atmosphere last time I was , there

Tastes way better than the photos look

This place was yum son! 10 outta 10 outta 10 & great prices for the area. I recommend the banana, mango & lemon pancake for a dessert, the banana, mango, spiralina smoothie was tasty AF and the tempeh & mushroom sushi was delish! Their steamed dumplings are comparible to authentic Chinese dumplings I had in Guilin. The upstairs floor seating is cute as, but there's mozzies in the afternoon so perhaps bring long pants if this is a bother for you. Very friendly staff. Ask for everything to be vegan when you order they are happy to oblige (some items are vegetarian, but can all be adapted to vegan).

Pros: Huge menu, Deliciois, Reasonably priced and good portions

Cons: Mozzies in the afternoon & downstairs

Delicious sushi

My friends had vegan sushi and they love it.
I had a burger with tempeh and I have missed the spice, the French fries were okay for Thai french fries.
But it's a quiet and really nice place. You can sit on the first floor and enjoy silence.
Good prices

Pros: Many different vegan sushi, Quit atmosphere

One of the Best in CM

Ohhhh this place is so nice, I’m sitting here in the upstairs patio area with the wind chimes singing, the birds chirping, and the golden tip of a temple peaking out behind roof tops in the near distance.

I had the green curry fried rice which included tofu, spring onions, and pumpkin (to my delight), and a side of fresh salad veggies. Simple and delicious for a lazy afternoon reading.

Pros: Beautiful quiet location and atmosphere, Delicious healthy & fresh food , Decent price

Favourite place in Chiang Mai

Went there on a few occasions while in Chiang Mai. The food is absolutely amazing, fresh flavourful and the portions are extremely generous (come hungry).

The food and drinks menu is extensive with strir-fries, curries, salads, steamed veggies, red rice. The ambiance is relaxing and the staff make you feel very welcome. Definitely recommend.

Pros: Steamed menu options, great selection

Cons: Not fully vegan

New Location

They have moved from their old place to a new location just near the Saturday market. The new place is in a less busy area than their former one in the heart of Thapae Gate, I hope they get just as much as business. This is one of the oldest veggie restaurants in Chiang Mai! They have been serving up excellent food for years and have never compromised. The new place is nicer than the old one and the menu remains the same. I like it they have a large mix of Thai and western foods and they have a lot of side dishes such as steamed tofu or steamed pumpkin etc. So if you want you can get a meal without oil or fat. Great smoothies and nice vegan sushi too! I have noticed that their menu now clearly marks wish dishes are vegan, which they didn't before. Much appreciate that. Great place. Good prices. Good vibes.

Pros: Healthy options available - something for everyone, Huge menu, Nice atmosphere

Cons: Not 100% vegan

still dreaming of the extraordinary tasty food

Its been one year ago since I‘ve been to Chiang Mai and I know what will be the first thing when I come back...
Not only the food was great, the location was beautiful and the family, who runs this place is so kind! Once they gave us some custard apples from their own organic garden as a gift. Upstairs you can feel free to lie down after your stomach is filled and wait till you’re ready for some coffee and desert:) I‘m deeply in love with this place.

Pros: lovely and calm atmosphere , lots of vegan food to choose from, cheap prices

Thai traditional - veganised

If you want to enjoy local food and enjoy all of the flavor experiences that Thai cuisine has to offer then this is a great spot. Off the beaten path, quiet, with extensive menu. Sit on the second floor upstairs. It's got floor seating and a nice open window. They were out of several things but what we did try was yummy with good portion sizes

Pros: Traditional Thai, Chill atmosphere, Good portion size

Cons: A bit out of the way, May not have everything listed on menu

Excellent spot to chill, eat, and drink

Lovely relaxing spot with an extensive menu with exclusively vegetarian or vegan options, friendly English-speaking staff, and good wifi. We had pad thai, tofu curry, brocolli and kale, papaya salad, mango sticky rice and vegan gelato, accompanied by mixed juices - everything was excellent!

Pros: Extensive menu, Friendly, English-speaking staff, Delicious!

Cons: Food came at varying speeds

Overpriced

The restaurant is located in a small street. The food is good but not so much, and is too expensive compered with some other resturant near here.

So yummy!

Great place in a quiet location! We had the Khao Soi which was so delicious! The only thing I would say needs improving is the lighting upstairs, we could hardly see what we were eating! But huge menu with lots of vegan options!!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Tasty Khao soi

Cons: Dark

Cosy quiet oasis

Had the Aum Kao Soi, it was delicious, but the fresh fruit salad with yoghurt & honey topped everything. Extensive menu, really cute cosy open upstairs area opening to a quiet neighbourhood, stayed for a few hours relaxing. Will be back.

Prices are fair; most main dishes 60-80 B plus rice 20ish B. Fruit salad 70, drinks on the expensive side with 60 plus.

Favorite veg restaurant in Chiang Mai

Out of all the (many) veg options we found in Thailand and Chiang Mai, this was our favorite. The menu had a ton of options and everything we tried was exceptional. The upstairs open air seating is really pretty, with a peaceful vibe. Will miss this place!

Pros: Large menu , Beautiful setting , Nice staff

First try at new location

The new location is tucked away in a small soi. Depending what direction you approach google maps might be useful.
I have been to Aum at the old Thapae location several times and was never impressed. Sometimes I was quite disappointed.
First try at the new location confirmed that things have not improved. The stir fry was disappointing, consisting of only 2 types of vegetable. The sauce was too heavy and creamy for the type of dish ordered. ผัดน้ำพริกเผา that actually looked more like แกงพะแนง
The only positive I can mention is that tempeh is available.
I usually order the same food wherever I go in Chiang Mai. By direct comparison, other restaurants make my favorite Thai foods better than Aum.

Pros: They have Tempeh, Quiet location away from the crowds but convenient

Cons: Food doesn't compare well to other Veg places
