Quality has gone down - Edit
The quality has gone down. I had charred pieces in my food. When I showed the staff, they said it was pepper. It's not pepper. Even though I've been going there for years, I won't be returning.

Not sure why you say this, we go nearly weekly and have for over 20 yrs. What is that ashy smudge? And not sure what dish you show but it's in a clear glass bowl and they don't use those. I think you went to another place and just said it was Au Lac when it wasn't.

Amazing food here! - Edit
I've been coming here since 1998, just after they opened. I have never found another place that has the same delicious taste and flavors as Au Lac. Mai the owner is the sweetest lady, very generous as well. We've had many "samples" of her dishes (full entree!) and each one just amazing. They have so many greens, broccoli, napa cabbage, string beans etc. Every person I ever brought here to dine has loved it.

Pros: Healthy vegan food, Lot's of fresh veggies!, Great desserts!

Made with Love - Edit
Two menus. The raw menu prepared by a man that took a vow of silence, which I had the pleasure of meeting. Gourmet raw food done right. This place changed what I thought was possible with flavors and inspired me to raise my own bar in the kitchen. Thank you!

Great food - Edit
This was great vegan Vietnamese food - we stayed away from the raw selections. We had BBQ Pork Rolls, Royal Noodle Soup and Kung Pau with tofu, all great. We tried the donut holes and did not care for them much.
Read moreUpdate 9/26/2023: We arrived as they were closing after lunch so we ordered to go and ate at the courtyard. Awesome food! Laab salad, paella and siu mai. Everything was wonderful! We'll be back, hopefully soon. The waiter was very kind and helpful too!

Great food and service - Edit
I have only been here a few times and the food is always high quality and the service is very good. Items that I really enjoy; green pyramid, lemongrass tofu and chicken, papaya salad, and their deserts are decadent and very shareable.

Great experience - Edit
Truly lovely atmosphere, traditional dining experience and all.
Read moreThe menu is overwhelming due to having so many options, this is a great problem to have.
Our waitress was knowledgeable and very friendly. In fact all the staff was very friendly here.
I found that my glass noodles were very salty and others in my party also felt that less salt would make this a perfect gastronomic experience.
Will absolutely return!
Cons: Saltiness

A little pricey for what you get - Edit
This place has a really nice cozy atmosphere. The food was pretty good but not amazing. It wasn't super flavorful. We had to wait quite a while for a table and staff seemed a little disorganized though friendly and helpful. I love that this place is fully vegan and even has raw options. My biggest complaint was just the amount of food you get for the price wasn't great.

5 stars across the board - Edit
I was recommended Au Lac by two different Happy Cowers and it did not disappoint. From the delicious food to the service, it was top notch! We ordered many things which were all delicious. We ordered curried rice, crispy seafood noodles, pork roll, egg roll, and humanese soup. The humanese soup was exceptional. As stated in the beginning, service is fantastic. With all of the things we ordered, the bill wasn’t bad. Do yourself a favor and pay a visit if in the area.

Awesome! - Edit
Exceptional vegan/raw/vietnamese/creative cuisine! We have been coming here for years and celebrated many birthdays, anniversaries, holidays etc. Never tried anything from the cooked menu - always their raw dishes and they are spectacular! "Fried Rice", California Roll, etc., all their soups and desserts are super delicious (rainbow pie, donut holes, house made chocolates and elixiers)!

Tasty food, friendly service, and perfect for everyone! - Edit
I absolutely love Au Lac! Throughout the current pandemic I have done a lot of takeout here, but I have come here many times before for fun or for celebratory occasions like anniversaries and birthdays. I don’t think I’ve ever tried a dish here that I didn’t like. Even my non-vegan family loves it! If you haven’t come here yet, do it!

LOVE this place!🧡 - Edit
i absolutely adore this place! they have a wonderful menu that is 100% vegan and also have a raw menu!! i love the curried rice and the egg rolls but everything i have tried has been wonderful for the price. their desserts are also good but not the best, since most of them are raw i believe so not a traditional dessert. their staff is also the BEST, every time i have gone my server has been the kindest! if u are wanting to try something new and unique with an endless amount of vegan options, i suggest this place!! u won’t be disappointed🙂

Solid Vegan Vietnamese Food - Edit
One of best vegan Vietnamese restaurants in the area. There’s a variety of appetizers, noodle soups, rice dishes and beyond.
Read moreMy recommendations:
Salt & Pepper Shrimp - made of soy, battered and fried to the perfect consistency
Nem Nuong (BBQ Pork Rolls) - if you used to go to Brodards, this is definitely comparable (but actually better bc it’s vegan!)
Royal Bun Bo Hue (Lemongrass Beef Soup) - what i like about their soup is that it’s not too oily and heavy like many other versions. If you’re used going to Vietnamese restaurants and ordering pho, be adventurous and try this one!

Souper Good - Edit
This is my favorite vegan restaurant. I've been here many times and eaten much of the menu, and I believe they make the best soups I've ever had. The pho and the bun bo hue are fabulous; they warm one from the inside and satisfy them so to risk falling into a contented sleep in the booth. The Au Lac Raw is also amazing; the lightly warm broth is like a soak in a miso bath.
Read moreOf course, the whole menu is delicious. Outstanding dishes are the pork rolls, clay pot fish, and raw paella. I just really, really like their soups.
Pros: Best soups in the world
Cons: Too satisfying; might cause comae.
