Tiramisu - Edit
I tried tiramisu dessert for the first time. With its beautifully layered presentation and satisfying richness, this vegan version faithfully replicates the traditional tiramisu, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a delicious dairy-free treat.

Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant with plants everywhere and comfy seating. Food was good and it came really fast. Bathrooms are in the basement and it’s very dark and not very clean.

PERFECTION - Edit
This restaurant is pure vegan perfection. The menu is so varied and has so many options that it made it hard to choose what to get. We tried the kimchi fries, jalapeño popper grilled cheese, and Seoul noodles. All were delicious. For dessert we tried the lemon meringue which had a ton of fresh fruit and toppings alongside the tart. Our server was so sweet and helpful with choosing from the menu and picking cocktails. We also got a pistachio croissant for the road after our meal and it was unbelievable--actually wish I got 4 to bring back home to stick in the freezer!

Great Vegan Restaurant - Edit
Sadly, I've learned not to expect much in regards to vegan food in Ottawa. Astoria has restored my faith that some people are really trying. Not everything was perfect but it was obvious that the intention was perfection. And it was easily the best vegan food I've had in the Ottawa area so far.

Cons: Menu dependent on too much factory vegan food., Plastic plants and chairs., A bit pricey.

A lovely little restaurant - Edit
Astoria is a nice little restaurant in Gatineau, QC, across the river from Ottawa, where my boyfriend and I were staying. We decided to go because it looked like a nice place. That they had French onion soup was another plus. We arrived around 6:00 p.m. on a Tuesday and were shown to a table. We naturally ordered a bowl each of the soup, but I think we could have shared that and the Caesar salad (another dish I often order at vegan restaurants). I've had vegan onion soups I've liked better, but this was pretty good.
Read moreFor my entree, I ordered the risotto with king oyster mushroom "scallops," while my boyfriend got the gnocchi. The risotto was perfectly cooked, but I would have liked more mushroom scallops. The gnocchi was also pretty good, but not my favorite.
If your French is rusty, fear not. The servers do speak English, and they do offer English menus (even if the website is primarily in French). If you're in Ottawa, it's worth a trip across the river.
Pros: All vegan, Good service, Tasty food
Cons: A bit expensive

Beautiful Restaurant & Good Food Options - Edit
Fully vegan restaurant with at least 1/3 of the menu also being GF. It was hard to choose what to get, everything sounded delicious and the items on the menu were varied. We ordered off the brunch menu, the breakfast tacos are delicious, the chicken and waffles was a bit bland. I also enjoyed the ambience of this restaurant.

Excellent meal - Edit
We had a lovely meal here, while on holiday in the area. The food was excellent, especially the arancini, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall a very nice restaurant that I would highly recommend. A selection of vegan wine available here as well. The perogi's were a little dry, but overall the meal was good.

The best in the NCR - Edit
This is by far our favourite vegan restaurant in the National Capital Region. We've been many times and have had just about everything on the menu. The only disappointment was the pierogis, which were dry and hard. Everything else, including the cocktails, has been top notch.

Everything looked good and tasted amazing. I tried the pizza, grilled cheese & tomato soup. A little expensive, but worth it. The iced chai latte was the best I’ve ever had. I brought my cats in their stroller, the staff let me go on the terrace and brought a bowl of water for them, very sweet.

YUMMY BRUNCH - Edit
It was a fantastic breakfast. We we’re welcomed right when we walked in. Paulina was our server and she was fantastic. She was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Always checked up on us to see how things were and if we needed anything. The food was excellent. My husband and I had the Sugar Shack breakfast. The portion size was huge and everything tasted fantastic. This was only my second time coming to Astoria. The 1st time was for supper. I had the scallop risotto which was so delicious. Both times have been excellent from start to finish. It’s now become my favorite place.

French onion soup had no cheese, and tasted disgusting. They also forgot to put forks/knives into our pick up order, had to go back.

The word "disgusting" is so harsh, and so unfair when referring to food that was prepared compassionàtely, without killing or abusing animals. Also, such a casual and complete dismissal of somebody's work is really hurtful. Vegan restaurants are fighting an uphill battle. I, for one, am grateful for restaurants like the Astoria and will be heartbroken if they go out of business because of reviews like this.

Nice atmosphere bad everything else - Edit
The restaurant itself looked amazing but the food was really lackluster and stupid expensive I had a small poutine and gnocchi Wich ended being 50bucks Wich can be expected of fancy restaurant but the food was honestly pretty bad the poutine had unmelted cheese and the pesto gnocchi barely tasted like pesto and took way too long to arrive while we where some of the only clients in the restaurant honestly I would have put one star but the minimum for vegan restaurants on this app is two stars
