Great Options! - Edit
They have a separate menu for vegan options and the food is really good here. It can be spicy, so make sure to note that to the waiter.

Kitschy, with good vegan options - Edit
Enjoyed having ~15 options to choose from, some fun drinks and decor with some “character”. Non-veg spouse enjoyed her meal as well.

Great place with a decent number of vegan options - Edit
I was looking for takeout in the South Loop area and discovered AO Hawaiian Outpost. They have a decent number of vegan options, the staff were really kind and helpful (they got our takeout order wrong at first but fixed it really quickly and gave us a free dish), and the food itself was great! The spicy panang curry was a personal favorite, but a lot of their dishes are worth reordering. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for something veg-friendly in the neighborhood.

Cons: Could have more vegan options, Order mishap (but it was fixed quickly)

Terrible service - Edit
Service has to be pretty bad for it to impact my rating, but it was. First of all, our drinks didn't come out until way after our food. By that time, I hardly wanted the drink. The alcoholic drink I ordered was pictured in a small rocks glass on the menu, but (finally) came out in a large tiki glass and was much more sweet and fruity than expected. I ordered the gamma vegan sushi roll, and the vegan mee goreng, and specified vegan when ordering both. When the mee goreng came out, I was confused because it had an EGG on it. Server took it away and obviously just scraped the egg off and threw some cilantro over where it was. Thankfully I don't have an egg allergy. Everything was just handled very poorly overall. Thankfully there was one good thing, which was the vegan gamma roll.

Could be so much better - Edit
My wife loves this place. I am completely underwhelmed. The people that own this restaurant are very very nice people and they have done great work in adding vegan options, but I just don’t like the food. The vegan options, to me, are just dishes veganized through elimination. That is ok, too, so long as when you eliminate one ingredient (chicken, beef, etc), you make it up with more veggies, but they don’t. I’ve tried to overcome this by paying more for additional vegetables, but the dishes still are lacking. I’ve really tried to like this place, I can walk here from my house. I have given up.

Curry Power - Edit
I absolutely loved my experience, we came here for the first time after a SF game. Sadly, I was the only vegan in my group, BUT I am sooo happy I found this place. I was able to convince a couple of folks to order from the vegan section, so I could try as many options possible: Panang curry 5, Nasi Goreng 5, Ramen 4 a little too spicy for me, but they fixed it for me right away. I even ordered food to go and had the pad kee mao and fried rice for lunch the next day. Even my non-vegan friends loved their food. We each had some fruity drinks and man, were they strong. Will definitely be back!!!

Three stars for the food - Edit
Last night was our first time at Asian Outpost. We chose this restaurant because of all of the vegan options they were supposed to have. And they do. I counted fifteen on the menu, which is great. That’s why I’m giving them four stars, but the food wasn’t very special. I had the fried eggless rice but it was basically rice with an indistinct sauce and a couple of pieces of veggies and tofu. The noodle soup had the same problem: not many veggies. And the fried spring rolls were too soft, probably fried in not hot enough oil and also here we noticed the lack of substance and taste.
Read morePros: Lots of vegan options, Nicely decorated with a tropical vibe
Cons: Too little veggies , Not very tasteful or spicy, We couldn’t order any sushi (Chef left?)
