Very disappointing afternoon tea. Sandwiches were either vegan cheese and grape or vegan cheese and some sort of relish. Bread was very dry.
Scones also very dry.
Cakes - yes dry too.
We didn’t eat it all as everything so dry and not worth calories.
Staff weren’t particularly friendly.
Avoid.
Venue was lovely and the menu for choices of tea to accompany my afternoon tea was the best I have seen.
Sadly, the vegan afternoon tea was severely lacking in any thought and taste. Definitely not worth £18.
The sandwich filling was either 'cheese' or not 'cheese', with a piece of lettuce, cucumber, tomato or grape. Even an alternative choice of Houmous would have been appreciated, if only for the protein factor of the meal. The cake choice (non-vegans had 3 different cakes) was one, although 2 slices of it. I believe it was chocolate but just tasted fusty and no-one liked it (even an 8 year old child). Scones hard and no cream to accompany them.
I emailed the Manager (James) afterwards to make him aware that vegans did not feel valued as customers and I must say, the response I had back, prompted me to write a review to warn others. It doesn't seem anything will improve any time soon. Shame because apparently the non-vegan options were extremely varied and tasty.
