A worker-owned cooperative bakery and pizzeria, part of a chain of several in the Bay Area. Usually at least a couple baked vegan treats like vegan muffin and vegan cookie, plus a vegan bread. Has a selection of plant milk. Arizmendi is the shortened name of Jose Maria Arizmendiarrieta, a young priest who inspired and helped found the Mondragon Cooperatives in the Basque Country of Spain in the 1950s. Reopened as vegetarian March 2022. Open Wed-Sun 7:00am-7:00pm.

Best Arizmendis location - Edit
This is the Arizmendis location that we have visited most frequently and when we visit the other locations, which are all great, we often talk about how this one on San Pablo in Oakland is just extra great. Friendly staff, loaded with toppings, chill atmosphere. Love it here!

Arizmendi is a chill cafe/bakery with indoor and outdoor seating. Ambiance is very casual with local art adorning the walls. The menu has variety of vegan permanent items like pizza, Thundermint cookies, breads, and drinks that can be made vegan. They also rotate different soups, scones, muffins. Everything in the bakery is clearly labeled with a V if it's vegan so go and see what they have!

Great pizza reminded me of childhood - Edit
They have really fabulous pizza here. Crust, vegan cheese, and toppings did not disappoint. We got their special of the day- onion, broccoli, cashew cheese. If you loved ricotta broccoli pizza growing up like I did, it was a huge throwback. I haven’t had this kind of pizza since I went vegan because it’s usually not offered. I can’t wait to go back, thanks Arizmendi for giving me a slice of childhood!

I love the vegan focaccia and vegan pizza! The vegan pizza with walnuts is so delicious! If you’re lucky to arrive early you also might get half off the vegan pizza from the day before. I really love this place and I find it to be way more satisfying, cheaper and with more options than Cheesebaord

Options include poppyseed, coconut-raspberry and zucchini muffins, scones , focaccias and pizza. Muffins are homey and satisfying. Check online for availability on different days. And, don’t miss the “ thunder mints” ( chocolate mint cookies)!
