Good food but disappointing service - Edit
Updated review from lunch on 19 June 2022
Read moreUnfortunately, although we enjoyed our food, the service was really disappointing. My friend waited about an hour for her meal (when others who ordered the same food got it before her) and instead of being apologetic the staff just made excuses.
We did enjoy our food and coffee (including lasagna, sweet potato rolls, burrito) but the poor service soured the experience. Hopefully they were just having a bad day and it isn’t normally such poor service.

review from 1 July 2019
I went back for lunch today and had the Southern Sweet Potato Bowl ($20) which was delicious! It was a delightful combination of flavours and textures. My friend asked about getting a vegan version of the Big Brekkie Board ($23) and was advised that the eggs would be replaced with smashed pumpkin. She had this with vegan feta as an extra and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. My other friend had the Chia Brekkie Jar ($15) and really enjoyed the top layers (particularly the coconut yoghurt) but found the bottom layer less tasty.
Staff were delightful and very helpful with very prompt service.
It’s not super cheap, but it was worth it for the delicious food and enjoyable experience, with most of the menu being vegan.

Old review from 29 June 2019:
We enjoyed our coffee and food, but felt the food was overpriced. We had the burrito ($22) and smashed pumpkin on sourdough ($17). I was going to get the big brekkie board, but couldn’t justify it for $23 since there is no replacement for two poached eggs.
The venue is pleasant and staff were friendly and helpful. There is indoor and outdoor seating.

They might have changed it but my partner had the vegan option of the big breakfast and they served it with beetroot relish and another hash brown type thing. It was huge too! Btw I have no affiliation with this place

New owners, still great food but lacking in hospitality - Edit
Sadly this little cafe has changed in it's level of service since new ownership has taken over.
Read moreThe menu is much reduced and seems simplified. I like to order something when I go out, that I cannot easily make at home. But these seemed like mostly variations on toasts, wraps, bagels and focaccia. There was waffles, we noticed, but this is hidden in the menu, on the drinks side of the menu. They had introduced dumplings and curry. Only two types of juices, and no fresh salads.
The service was, to be brutally honest, appalling. We sat outside and came in to let them know. They were busy, and I believe short staffed. But the lack of acknowledgement almost had me walk back out again. No water to the table, no smiling or friendly greetings. We ordered coffees which took 20 minutes, to come out. With no apology. My main meal, a breakfast burrito took 50 minutes. Meanwhile I saw people who had ordered after us, and the same thing, being served theirs before mine. My dining companions had finished their meals, as I waited, patiently. The dishes piled up on our table with the coffee cups.
The food was good, no complaints about the quality of the food. Housemade pie and lasagne were good. We ordered a croissant with jam, they had run out of jam. They had perhaps run out of sour cream for my burrito, it was just a teaspoon worth. The burrito they had replaced the hashbrowns with pommes without mention. If only they had served them out in the order they were ordered, I might not have been short changed!
I don't mind if things take a long time, if I am not in a rush and there is an acknowledgement that we might need to wait. I am understanding that hospitality has, and continues to suffer after Covid and with shortages in staff. But the attitude of the staff, when I commented; They could have apologised, perhaps offered a discount if we come back, or even just acknowledged that we had been waiting for an unreasonable time. Instead, it was defensive, which means, while I will always support a vegan cafe wherever possible, it is unlikely I will go back with my partner who will not tolerate bad service.

Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Good service. Smashed Avo was delicious - the bread was toasted perfectly (not too tough). Cosy cafe with good vibe.

A little dissapointed. Small menu - Edit
Was expecting more, based on reviews. The menu is tiny. Just a few options on there and not very exciting. There are some other items (mostly wraps), in a cabinet, by the counter. Had breakfast burrito and chicken wrap. Breakfast burrito was a bit bland and not very large, for $18. Crispy chicken wrap was better. The wraps for the bread are good. For sure needs more things on the menu and a bit more imagination. Pre made wraps are alot at $18.

Great vegan cafe - Edit
Happy to find another fully vegan cafe!
Read moreI had a chai latte and the pancakes and both were delicious. The pancakes are pretty sweet with Oreos, chocolate hazelnut spread, maple syrup and icecream but it was exactly what I was after so loved them!
Very friendly staff and good menu with a few items in their cabinet too!

I had no idea there was such an amazing vegan cafe so close to where I live. I will be coming back here a lot! Can vouch for the tempeh reuben, the tofu burrito and the peanut butter brownie. So happy.

Best vegan food ever. - Edit
Food is delicious and we'll sized portions. Lovely staff. Not sure where the review came from about them not wearing a mask. They've always done so in my experience.

Happy ARGI is now completely vegan - Edit
The big breakfast was well presented and had some great elements; well made scrambled tofu, mushrooms and guacamole. The beans, however, were a touch on the raw side and would have been better if they had been made with something other than Lima beans given that they were served in a tiny dish. The rosti was soggy and oily, unfortunately.
Read moreThe mac & cheese and popcorn chik'n waffles were different but the flavour was a little flat and needed another element to add some depth.
My dirty chai was mostly chai with just a hint of coffee.

Awesome cafe in Kensington - Edit
Great cafe for brunch and lunch with a number of glutenfree and vegan options. The owner and staff are extremely freindly and take pride in providing excellent food and service. There is limited outside seating and a few tables inside.
Read moreThey are know for there awesome coffee, but for tea lovers their matcha latte is a great choice. I had the less sweet option which had the perfect balance of match and soy milk.
The let them eat.. Big breaky is a great choice if you have a big appetite. I just got off a 16 hour airplane flight and this hot the spot. The rice paper bakon one their signature items is a nice add to this dish, love the homemade baked beans and the wild mushrooms is a nice touch. The glutenfree bread was very tasty with the avocado and tofu scramble. Top it off with the potato rosette and it was a full meal. Would highly recommend this option.
Pros: Menu well marked , Lots of vegan glutenfree options, Large portions
