Good, satisfying - Edit
Spicy Tofu vegan bowl was good and filling. FYI the tofu is cold but still tasty. Just make sure you confirm vegan/no animal products etc.

Good Bowl Option at MDW - Edit
Not bad for an airport rice bowl!
Read moreI dropped by during a layover at MDW for their Spicy Tofu Bowl (fully vegan friendly). It was a mix of white rice, red onions, bean sprouts, and tofu topped with green onions and a tangy vinaigrette.
I was impressed with how much tofu was given and that it was actually spicy. Definitely a good kick without it feeling completely burn-your-tongue.
I was a bit surprised the tofu was cold since I’m sure the meat options were likely heated, but a toss inside the bowl with the rice should heat it right up.
For $15 with tax, I’m satisfied with this airport lunch.

Decent - Edit
I liked the option to build my own bowl. The spicy tofu is pretty spicy. The sushi rolls aren’t made fresh. They were cold which I don’t care for especially for the price

Good vegan entree for the price - Edit
I saw a lot of reviews complaining about the spice level, so I want to note that the hot chili oil is in a separate bottle and is squeezed on top when they prep your bowl. If you're sensitive to spice you could ask them to hold off on that condiment. I'm not sure if the tofu marinade itself has any spice.
Read moreThe bowl with chili oil included seems just very slightly spicy to me, so I guess it depends on what you're used to. They were out of several veggies meant to come with it when I ordered, but wouldn't substitute anything without adding a $3 upcharge so that was a letdown. But when it comes to paying for ingredients I don't recieve, this is still a decent deal for airport food, and it's nice to find a menu item that's vegan by default.
Pros: Vegan without having to modify, Decently spicy if you ask for extra chili oil
Cons: Pretty basic, Hefty upcharge for subbing any toppings

It depends on how you feel about deathly spicy - Edit
After 12 hours of travel and no food, I was glad to see a place I could grab a quick meal before the last leg of the flight. I was told the spicy tofu bowl was vegan. I added avocado (+$3) and grabbed a water bc I couldn't find a fill station that didn't taste disgusting (+$7!!!!!!). The $26 bill was high, but it's airport food. Well, a few moments later I was damn glad I paid extra for that avocado and $7 bottle of water. As soon as I took my first bite, I was coughing, tears were streaming down from my face, and my nose was running. It was probably one of the spiciest meals I've ever eaten. It didn't taste like much, just burning. My lips were red and burning after. Yikes. I ate it anyway and hoped I wouldn't be running to the bathroom on the plane. All went well, although the next day was a little uncomfortable for me. So be forewarned: the spicy tofu bowl is VERY spicy: like biting into a hot pepper. It's hotter than hot sauce, hotter than grocery store hot salsa—it's so spicy you won't taste much other than burning. If you like that, then enjoy!

Great food, good service - Edit
I stopped by for lunch on my way to a flight. Despite being crowded, service was prompt and friendly. I had the vegetable roll and miso soup, both of which were fresh and delicious.

One of few vegan options - Edit
There are VERY few vegan options at this airport, so I was happy to find this. The layout/atmosphere was a little strange, but it’s an airport, so I won’t hold it against them. I ended up sharing the veggie sushi (eight pieces which had tofu, avocado, and cucumber) with my mom, and we each got the spicy tofu salad (different from the spicy rice bowl others have mentioned) as well. The tofu was very good—definitely spicy, but not insanely so. The ratio of the salad ingredients was ehh, since the majority was just greens. The good news was that, despite the abundance of greens, they were tasty greens! Very fresh spinach and lettuce, not the sad and soggy romaine many salads include. Wish there was a little bit more tofu 🙃
Read moreMy favorite part of the salad was the takuan slices; takuan, as I learned today, is a yellow pickled radish, and I enjoyed it. The salad didn’t come with dressing since it was in a to-go container, but I was easily able to get vinaigrette on the side.
Pros: Vegan options in a non-vegan-friendly airport , Tasty sushi
Cons: Greens-heavy salad , While there are options, there aren’t many

Spicy - Edit
Someone wrote a review saying the spicy tuna wasn’t what spicy, I disagree. If spicy isn’t your thing, it’s hot. The seaweed salad was good and not spicy though. The vegan options are very limited at midway.

The spicy tofu salad was delicious and filling. I found it difficult finding a vegan meal at this airport and was pleasantly surprised! Would definitely return and order again.

Three vegan options- bowl, salad, roll. Expensive, but so is everyone else’s food options. Two are grab and go.

Solid airport option - Edit
Like previous reviews have mentioned, there's not much here, so Arami was a very welcome find. The spicy tofu was delicious, a little light on the veggies (just some bean sprouts, green onion, and red onion lol) but it was a sizable and filling portion for $13 nonetheless

Decent vegan airport food - Edit
The vegan food situation is pretty grim at Chicago's Midway airport, so we were greatly relieved that our flight was leaving from concourse A, which is where Arami is located. We got the spicy tofu bowl with a side of seaweed salad. Neither were anything special, but we were grateful to have them!

Rare Tofu Option at Midway - Edit
It was well worth walking to this concourse during my layover. It’s an actual vegan meal and the spicy tofu wasn’t super spicy.
Read moreThe staff confirmed the (v) on their menu is vegetarian because it’s not certified vegan and made on shared equipment. I had mild gas and bloating after the meal but I can’t rule out GI discomfort due to traveling, eating quickly before boarding, etc.

Best Vegan at Midway - Edit
This hidden gem is my go-to vegan spot at Midway Airport. It's tucked away down Terminal A across from Einstein Bagels and Nuts on Clark.
Read moreTheir avocado and cucumber sushi is awesome. The spicy tofu is spicy! and delish. Most things are grab-and-go. Everything here is top quality. They'll custom make sushi for you if you have time to wait.
They have a long bar you can hang at with beers on tap and a killer sake selection. Huge general seating also right there with lots of tables with outlets if u need to re-charge.
Pros: delish vegan, friendly staff, charging outlets
