Serves meat, vegan options available. Indian and Pakistani cuisine. Offers vegetable vindaloo, vegetable jalfrezi, vegetable samosas plus several others that are vegan or can be made vegan.
Very small restaurant inside of an Indian grocery store. They appear to do a substantial takeout business and they were very busy putting together orders. We ordered samosas, a lentil dish, an okra dish and a naan that was listed as being made with caramelized onions. The samosas came out first, which seemed fine since they could be considered an appetizer. Some time later, the okra dish came out, but not the lentil dish or the naan. The naan came out alone sometime after we finished the okra dish. We were starving so we ate it by itself. We were almost done when we realized that there was pink stuff between the layers of bread that didn’t look like onions. We waited for our lentil dish, but after awhile my husband went to see if we could just pay the bill if they weren’t in the process of making it. They hadn’t started cooking it yet so he paid the bill. THE RECEIPT SAID THE NAAN WAS STUFFED WITH BEEF. the menu said it would be stuffed with onions! We ordered our other dishes from the vegetarian menu so it seems like the waitress could have stopped this mishap from happening if she was paying attention. We will not eat there again - it was a horrible experience.
All the options listed in the description aren’t offered anymore but they still have a great selection of veggie options. I had the vegetable samosas(came with 2) and the vegetable biryani and they were both amazing! The waitress said the biryani did not have any butter/ghee or dairy. it was such a huge portion that I think I’ll have another 2 meals from my leftovers. Will definitely be coming back here
BEST meals I have had in a restaurant in 5 years. I travel frequently for my charity work and could eat anywhere I want. I tried Apna because they appeared to have several vegan options. I arrived and the Indian-Pakistani restaurant was tucked in a grocery store. You can eat in (6?) tables, or carry out like I did. $11 for a decent sized meal. I got the Vegetable Vindaloo for lunch and it was SO GOOD I went back the next day and got it again for lunch and Vegetable Jalfrezi for dinner!! (Naan is not vegan so got it with rice). I got some vegetable samosas, fresh fried, 2 for $3 the first day and then some pre-cooked ones at the grocery store the next day for $1 each.
I NEVER give 5 stars because 99.9% of the restaurants I would not care if I ever visited again. THIS WAS GOOD FOOD and was SO EASY to eat vegan. Next time I am in town I will ONLY eat here.
