Do not order the burger

The roasted potatoes and baked beans were great - highly recommend but the burger was not a burger.

That actually is what the Greek’s call a burger 😂

A truly disappointing experience

I chose this restaurant based on the favourable reviews here, thinking it would be a good one for me and my non-vegan husband I am traveling with. The vegan menu looked next-to-perfect, but the service was truly disappointing.

On our first night in Kavala they were already full, so we placed a reservation for the next evening since the reviews were so favourable. The next evening we arrived at the time of our reservation with high expectations.

First, we ordered the starters to share on the separate vegan pages on the menu and I ordered a vegan main. They told us that they unfortunately had ran out of their infamous potato salad (which was fine by us, since that's the way it may be in Greece). We ordered a salad, grilled eggplant and beans to share for starters. I ordered a vegan pilaf as a main, while my husbad ordered a fish main.

That's when things started going wrong: we were served the grilled egpplant crusted with feta cheese and returned it right away and were questioned on whether we really ordered it vegan. They do have the same dish on the non-vegan side of the menu, but feta wasn't mentioned even there. Then, shortly after, they served me a pilaf with mussels (that wasn't even on the menu!). Of course I returned that one too. Then they told as that they had ran out of the rice used in the pilaf and showed us the menu again, and I tried ordering the vegan pasta dish, but were told that they wouldn't be able to serve any of the four vegan mains on the menu. I decided to order nothing more.

I am truly surprised, in contrast to the reviews here, by the mediocre service and the lack of the vegan items advertised on the menu. I consider myself a climate-aware vegan, so I was devastated to see all that non-vegan food going to waste. (Understanding Greek, I heard them offering it to a beggar, but that person refused the eggplant.) I would never in a million years try that excuse of a restaurant again. If they had told us they couldn't serve vegan that day right away, we could have settled for a reservation for the next day to try again with better luck.

To us, their service was a disgraceful failure. Never again.

Pros: Vegan-friendly, at least on the menu

Cons: Mediocre service, The vegan items on the menu not available, Serving animal products although specifying vegan

Wonderful Pilaf

We were there a weak ago: the service was fast - the portions enormous (like everywhere in Greece 🥰😅) - the dishes palatable!
The Fasolia (big white beans had a slightly bitter taste though everything else was delicious.
They can make some of the salads vegan and have an ENGLISH (not in German!) vegan menu.

The Pilaf was soooo tasty!💗

Pros: Pilaf, Quick, Portion size

Cons: Smoking only everywhere, A little chaotic staff
