Cozy and cute vegan deli - Edit
The place is really cute and homey and there are lots of different dishes and vegan reinterpretations of Italian food. However, the price is a bit high considering it's a deli and they reheat most of the dishes that were prepared beforehand. I also left feeling hungry despite getting 3 courses!

Brilliant food - Edit
One of the best meals we had. We tried the spaghetti cabonara and the taste menu with 3 options. The soy steak had a great taste and consistance like goulash meat. The crepes and gnoochi were great too. And its not that pricy like in the description, more like $$.

Tutto buonissimo - Edit
Consigliato

Tantissimi ottimi piatti - Edit

In totale abbiamo speso 60 euro in 2.
Molto consigliato
Pros: Tantissima scelta, Orario esteso, Gentilezza dello staff

Unexpected find - Edit
Whilst travelling across northern Italy from France heading to Austria I wasn’t expecting to find a 1950s style vegan diner but life is full of surprises.
Read moreFor tourists the staff don’t speak much English however you can scan a menu QR code and see the menu there using normal built in translators.
The restaurant is very causal and not formal.
I had their carbonara as a first course because I’ve yet to come across one and was highly rated. Rightfully so it was very tasty and thoroughly enjoyed.
For my main I had their version of braised beef which again was something I’ve never come across so had to try that as well and again, it was very tasty! Not as tasty as the carbonara but accompanied with a portion of vegetables I enjoyed the experience.

Dessert was of course tiramisu as I am in Italy, this I had tried before, but never in country. It was nice but I think next time I’d try something different.

Vintage atmosphere - Edit
Vintage atmosphere. Part of the menu is visible on the counter in the room. Fast, kind and precise service. Free parking also available on Saturday evenings. Few seats, so booking well in advance is recommended. I had the S'Tonnato as a starter, nothing special. First up is the CarboRava, really excellent and recommended. The spectacular saffron cream.

Worth a detour to Alessandria - Edit
Travelling from Lucca, Toscana to Valsavarenche, Val d'Aoste to hike for a week, four of us stopped at Antica Casa Rava (per my suggestion). I'm vegan, bf is vegetarian, the 2 others are omnivores. Everyone ate so well that we stopped there again on our way home. We had the 3 choice combo plates and dessert. Nourishing, creative, tasty!

Antica Casa Rava promosso a pieni voti! 💯

Vegan SuperStarS - Edit
Tried out of curiosity as a novelty being the first vegan restaurant in the city, It became really soon our favorite restaurant in town. We keep returning to them and it looks like they can veganize every traditional recipe! The menu changes according to seasons and occasions and it can be found online at anticacasarava.com. The desserts are superlative, so much that It could become their main focus.

cute restaurant-concept - Edit
The design of the restaurant is very special in its 50s look! Really one of a kind, especially in that area / smaller city of Alessandria.
Read moreI had a 3-tasting plate, which I love about Italian restaurants, you often can get a plate of several menu-items to try out!
It was 14€ and featured a chickpea-smoked tofu salad (pretty oily, but good), a small portion of homemade ravioli (good) and - I asked for some kind of salad as third choice - but I received a flan or quiche, was solid, but not what I ordered ;-)
I think the language barrier was a little problem here.
The menu is interesting, we also got a „Russian salad“, which was basically mashed potatoes with mayo and a lasagna.
We enjoyed the food, but I really was missing something veggie-based on the menu, some kind of salad / something fresh and crisp to go with the rather heavy pasta dishes and the oily baked stuff.
Pros: Nice interior , Classic Italian dishes veganized
Cons: some veggie-dishes missing beside the heavy stuff, you pay for the cutlery / corpetto - ~3€, value ok, but not completely convincing

I am not vegan (yet) but I’m approaching this lifestyle more and more. Here at Antica Casa Rava I found a great place to go with friends and family. The tasting menu with 3 options it’s perfect. Last time with my brother we had crespelle with bacon and apple, nuts ravioli with their sauce, arancini and the mushroom roast.
