The best burger(s) you’ll ever taste.

Before Annie’s Burger Shack opened people used to always ask me “have you been to Annies yet? The burgers are amazing”. I never had the chance to go until about 3 years after the restaurant opened. The burgers are amazing; they do a meaty option, vegetarian option and vegan option on every burger available. My favourite so far is the Vermonter burger, which is a “burger” made from beetroot, pancakes, “bacon”, salad with mayo and covered in Maple syrup. It’s the best. They do the Elvis Presley burger, which is made with peanut butter and jelly, which again is delicious. It’s always busy so be sure to reserve a table!!

Pros: Loads of choice. , Great service.

Great food and selection and labeling

I loved this place, no separate vegan menu but every burger can be meat or veggie or vegan. 32 to choose from! Vegan milkshakes too and the beer menu was labelled vegan/GF too, they were really committed to being for everyone. And the food quality was amazing and portions huge - I had that horrible sadness that I was too full to finish my wedges but they were so good I just had to!

The only minor thing I would say is that sometimes the staff slipped into "did you want that vegan or normal" for my friends, when they meant vegan or (veggie or) meat. One said it for the milkshake and corrected himself to "vegan or dairy" though.

Pros: everything clearly labelled on one menu, excellent quality food, lovely atmosphere with lots of seats

Cons: not all vegan

Love Annie’s

Been many times. Always surprise me how creative their burgers are and how they make each burger from the menu depending on dietary preferances. My favourite has to be vegan Greek burger. The place is always busy (I understand why), but reserving the table is a good option to avoid the waiting time.

Pros: A lot of choices, Adequate price, Creative recipes

Cons: Often busy

Mind-blowing menu

The amount of choice for vegans given that any of the meat dishes on their menu can be veganised is quite incredible. It was my non-vegan friend's suggestion and she was happy there were many vegan options for me and she could get a meat burger.

I first went there for dinner and opted for the Sunday Dinner burger. There was the patty, a stuffing ball, gravy, mini carrots, a Yorkshire pudding (a doughy patty) and potatoes. It was amazing. Though I was surprised that the burger patty was a beetroot/vegetable construction rather than something with a meaty texture such as a seitan base, given it's an American style burger restaurant. I asked for curly fries on the side.

I returned a few days later for one of their breakfasts, and opted for The Lumberjack. It was just under £10 for 3 large pancakes with butter and maple syrup alongside a fry up of home fries, vegan bacon, 'eggs', and a sausage patty. The eggs were pancake batter topped with dollops of mustard, or you could get scrambled tofu. I'd opt for the tofu if I were to get this again. You also could opt for hash browns over home fries but I preferred to get something homemade. I also appreciated the bottomless filter coffee. Next time I would omit pouring the butter over the pancakes - it was a great mix of foods but I did feel a bit of an oil overload and struggled to finish the last pancake. If I had been in Nottingham long enough to go back for another breakfast I'd have tried the French toast and waffles!

Both times I waited a while for someone to come over to take payment after having been served the bill quite promptly, so be ready to head up to the bar if you have a wait.

Pros: Huge selection, Reasonable prices , Lots of tables

Cons: Have to go up to the bar to pay after waiting, Only vegan burger a vegetable patty that falls apa

Extensive options for Vegans and Vegetarians

I've been to Annie's a couple of times and on each occasion I've been really happy with the service and food. Even with large parties the staff are always helpful, accommodating and efficient. The full menu is offered for both vegan and vegetarian guests. You may choose any burger from the entire menu which makes a wonderful change from the usual boring bean burger that is so often given as the only vegetarian burger choice! Would highly recommend.

Delicious junk food

Annie's is great! Every single thing on the menu can be vegan. The BB King, the Vermonter and the North Carolina are my favourites. Their milkshakes are also really good although not all of them are vegan ( I think the cookies and cream one is vegetarian).

Pros: great burgers, the curly fries are amazing

Cons: serves meat

Incredibly versatile vegan-friendly menu

Annie's Burger Shack has a pretty impressive menu where ANY burger can be modified to suit vegans. I was relieved to find out that they don't just remove components to accommodate the dietary requirements, they adapt the recipe to suit you.

The place is obviously very popular as the queue can build up really fast. Fortunately there is a lovely bar to sit at while you wait for a table; but the most reliable method is to book in advance.

The food is outstanding and excellent value for money. They're hearty portion sizes with quick and efficient service.

I can't recommend it highly enough. I loved it and will definitely be back for more. The only downside was the lack of vegan desserts, but I don't think I could've eaten any more anyway.

Pros: Wide range of vegan options, Excellent value for money, Great ambience and service

Cons: Only a couple of vegan dessert options

amazing!

So much choice - all 30 burgers can be vegan. I had the vegan Sloppy Joe burger, a banana vegan milkshake and choc and peanut vegan brownie with vegan ice cream. I'd love to go again. I'd give it 5 stars but can only give 4 on this app as it also serves meat

Best Vegan burgers!

They have a huge selection of burgers (around 30) and they do Vegan versions of them all, you will be spoilt for choice. The food tastes great and the portions are huge, they also do the best sweet potato fries! The only complaint I have is that the wait for food can be a little long on busy days, but the quality of the meal makes up for it.

Pros: Lots of Vegan options, Friendly staff, Great atmosphere

Cons: Waiting times, Some burgers can be pricey

Burgers, eh. Breakfast, hello.

Annie's are fantastic for offering vegan alternatives. By which I mean that every single one of their burgers comes with a vegan alternative; however, I personally am not the biggest fan of the burger patty itself, finding it flavourless and generally just not that great.

HOWEVER where Annie's really shines is their breakfast menu. Although I never seem to struggle for food in the city centre for dinner, breakfast is a different thing altogether. Annie's has completely solved this issue for me, as their breakfast menu is so expansive, and they offer potentially the best tofu scramble I've ever consumed. Pancakes, crab cakes, Frank and beans, they've got every single thing covered, and it's all delicious.

Pros: All of the vegan options, lovely staff, very caref

Cons: The burger patties themselves are a little bit tas

so many burgers!!!

I made a trip from Birmingham to visit Annie's as I heard the burgers were unbelievable, and everything on the menu could be made vegan or vegetarian. I was not disappointed. Although a little expensive, it was well worth the drive up to try a burger that really did taste authentic to a meat burger. So many toppings are available. I had the chilli topping, which can be made both mild and hot. The wedges were delicious. A variety of milkshakes are also available. It gets busy though.

Pros: lots of options, tasty, nice decor

Cons: busy, pricey

Whole menu as Vegan option

The fab thing about Annie's is that the whole menu is offered as 'Vegan, Veggie or Meaty'. Portions are huge and they do replace EVERYTHING with a vegan version, from bacon, to cream cheese, to chorizo. The burgers themselves are rather dry beany things, but the whole experience is unmatched.

Pros: whole menu offered as vegan

Cons: not the greatest vegan burgers

Okay.

After reading that ALL the burgers could be made vegetarian and vegan I was really excited. Maybe a bit too excited, because I was slightly disappointed. Bun, veggies, sauce and vegan cheese were really good but I did not really like the burger itself. Was a bit too crunchy for my liking.

Nevertheless, really worthwhile checking Annie's out, loads of choice :)

Pros: Everything can be made vegan/vegetarian

Cons: Burger too crunchy

Spoilt for choice

Annie's has an extensive burger menu, with all options available as meaty, vegetarian or vegan. It's nice to be spoilt for choice! Despite the popularity (we booked for Easter weekend 2014, and, despite booking weeks in advance, there was only one time slot still available), service is really fast. The burger was tasty, with plenty of accompaniments, and a really hearty size. My only complaint is that they'd just run out of vegan desserts when I'd ordered.

Great selection of Vegan burgers. Nice treat for once in a while but if you're like me and you have eyes bigger than your belly you might end up feeling a little sickly afterwards as the portions are absolutely enormous!
Great food, great atmosphere, perfect for special occasions!

Pros: Great selection of burgers , Friendly service , Tastey food

Cons: Very busy , Can be hard to book , Walk ins can be waiting for over 1 hour

Love Annie's!

Been here twice now and love it. The atmosphere is great, staff very friendly and the food so tasty.

All the burgers, about 30, can be made Vegan and Vegetarian. The staff ask you once you have chosen the burger whether you want meat, vegetarian or vegan and I really like this attitude. I have a mix of veggies, vegans and meat eaters in my family and this is one of the only places we could all go to and be really happy with the food, choice and atmosphere. We are also a varied age group, youngest 13 and oldest 75, and everyone felt comfortable and at ease here despite the "trendy vibe".

Portions are pretty substantial, none of us have been able to manage a sweet afterwards! Although there are some vegan puddings available if you can fit it in.

I've had the Mushroom & Swiss cheese burger and the Bacon & Cheese burger. Always cooked fresh and to order, and on both occasions didn't take very long to arrive at the table. Roughly £9.00 for the burger which included a side, the curly fries are a must! I feel that for the portion it is incredibly good value.

I definitely will return if they can fit me in. Annie's is so popular and if wanting a table in the evening you might have to wait a few weeks. Bookings currently by email and it may take a few days to get a reply, from their social media page they are receiving approximately 500 emails a day. Gives you an idea of just how many people love this place!

Pros: Huge menu for veggies and vegans, Great atmosphere, Staff are lovely

Cons: Gets extremely busy, book ahead

Incredible range of vegan burgers!

I was amazed to go in and find that all of the burgers on the menu could be made in vegan versions, with an incredible range of choices. I ended up getting a hawaiian burger, which was a vegan burger, vegan bacon, vegan cheese and a pineapple ring in a bun with curly fries on the side and it was absolutely delicious! I really never expected that I would find such a vegan-friendly non-vegetarian restaurant, or that vegan burgers like this existed. The only improvement to this place could be if it was all veg!

Pros: Amazing range - all burgers veganisable, Tasty comfort food, Friendly, helpful staff

Cons: Can be busy!

Best burger you'll ever have

Annie's used to be in The Old Angel but has relocated to The Navigation, so it's not quite so loud anymore.
I've had quite a few of Annie's burgers but the best one was at my last visit in May - a tower of a burger with cheeze, mayo, hot sauce, olives, jalapenos and onion rings with a big bowl of curly fries.
I'm going back later this month for more.
Yum!

Pros: Amazing food, Amazing food, Decent price

Cons: A little out of town

The best burger I've ever had

My boyfriend and I were in Nottingham for the weekend and I found Annie's Burger Shack on Happy Cow so we decided to check it out. "Rock AND vegan burgers? How could we not!" I believe was the phrase I used.

The place itself is a tattered rock bar, all the charm of somewhere that doesn't spend much money on appearances so the customers get more for their money. The music was good, there's a pool table, and the staff were lovely. We settled in by a window and grabbed menus.

Holy crap ALL these burgers have a vegan option! Cue twenty minutes of umming and ahing as we work our way through the pages and pages of choice - something any vegan will tell you is a novelty, especially in a bar.

I settled for the Slayer burger, complete with "Reign in Blood" (the name of a Slayer album) sauce and my boyfriend opted for the Doom burger. We waited.

To say we were not disappointed would be a massive understatement. Our jaws dropped as the plates arrived, mine dripping with vegan cheese AND mayo! and heaps of home-made potato wedges (which my partner says are the best wedges he's ever had, and he's had a lot).

"Oh jesus, oh god this is a good burger. Oh, the cheese, the cheese!" etc., etc.

We left completely stuffed and very sad we couldn't take the whole place back home with us. I would definitely give Annie's Burger Shack 5 cows, though I appreciate the site not allowing it for places which serve meat.

Pros: Best burgers ever!, Great place, great music, Best burgers ever!

Cons: None, unless you're not into rock

Best burgers ever!

We went to Annie's Burger Shack at the Old Angel Inn on 1st, 3rd, and 4th July 2010. The first night, I had a chili dog and my husband had the chili burger, both of which were good. The second night, my husband had the nachos with dirty rice sub, which he thought was just OK (he didn't read the description properly and ended up with things he didn't like much). I had the Drunken [censored] burger, and I can honestly say it was the best burger I've ever eaten in my life! We had breakfast on the 4th, and it was OK (one of my Linda McCartney sausages was overcooked, and there was no vegan sub for the eggs in the non-vegan breakfasts). I wish we could go back again and try the other burgers, most of which can be made vegan (including the cheeseburgers).

My only complaint, which can't really be helped, is that the atmosphere can be a bit loud, as it's in a punk pub. But it is definitely worth going, especially early in the evening and/or on a weekday (Saturday night, during the World Cup, was quite loud, and the service was much slower).

Annie's is incredibly vegan-friendly and has a wider vegan selection than most vegetarian restaurants I've been to. I would give this place 5 cows if I could!

Pros: great vegan selection, best burgers in the world, friendly and knowledgeable staff

Cons: can be loud and crowded, not 100% vegan
