Generally good food, familiar menu - Edit
When we came here for dinner the first thing that struck me was how similar the menu was to Au Lac’s - except substantially cheaper. We were advised by the lovely staff that they’d sold out of desserts, so went ahead and ordered two entrees as well as two mains. The steamed buns ($4.90) were good, cooked perfectly and not doughy. The curry puffs ($4.90) were different from the photo: even more delicious in flaky pastry. The roast pork ($16) was not what I expected: small chunks of perhaps slightly overcooked, tough mock pork, a brand I’ve seen better prepared in other restaurants. The stir fried vegetables with cashews ($17.50) was fine. I’m sure I’d come here regularly if I lived in here, but I do notice that four of the five vegan restaurants in Canberra all seem to have very similar menus.

Always over the moon with the food that comes out of that kitchen. I go there once a week and have tried almost the entire menu. Even my 13 year old loves the place. His favourite. The steamed buns.

Fantastic Asian food - Edit
An amazingly wide variety of foods that are all plant based! The steamed buns were awesome, and the yellow noodle laksa is excellent, although the soy meat is partially fried. Great price too!

Great food, friendly staff, reasonably priced. - Edit
I am delighted to find that so many people, who choose to eat in a manner that reflects their compassionate nature, also exhibit a relaxed and friendly social demeanor. This is certainly the case with the staff here, but "relaxed" could easily be substituted, or perhaps supplemented, with efficient and energetic. I was astounded at the speed with which I was presented my meal and in a manner that was so relaxed it could almost be described as languid. The food was amazing and the price was reasonable. Great establishment.

I really like this place, the environment is good and the staff are really lovely. We went on a quiet night, so the food came out fast and hot, and everything was damn good. The only thing that sucked was the parking and it’s a bit overpriced.

New favourite restaurant! - Edit
Got takeaway from here last night. The fried rice was the best I've had in a long time and the soy beef was delicious. Satay tofu was also really good and I usually don't like silken tofu.
Read moreIt did take a little while for the order to arrive, we ordered online and came to pickup and we don't think they started cooking the food until we had arrived but it was well worth the wait.

Gross food, plain and bland. The server doesn’t speak English well at all. Brought out the wrong food. Something I didn’t order and still charged me for it.

Affordable vegan restaurant, so many options. - Edit
An Nguyen is an affordable vegan restaurant and takeaway with pages and pages of options. Most dishes have fake meat in them. The atmosphere is quite casual and relaxed. The laksa was a bit flavourless but I thoroughly enjoyed the satay “chicken”.

Disappointed - Edit
Very bland dishes, I had two different ones in one bowl and I couldn’t tell the difference! Tried a bunch of entrees and were also disappointing - the spring rolls were filled with an odd filling - I didn’t finished it.
Read moreI wanted this to be really good, as it’s always exciting to have lots of choices, but I’m not sure if I’ll give it another try. Also woke up with a headache this morning.
Will update review if I try again and this was just a bit of bad luck with our order.

Deliciously fresh and flavoursome - Edit
The food is the best aspect of this pure vegan addition to the inner south Canberra dining scene. Served with smiles and warmth, and made with love, the generous dishes are beautifully presented and packed with authentic Vietnamese taste, the vegan translation adding flavour, health and lightness to the mix. Enjoy the passing parade on Giles Street, Kingston from the street-facing tables out front or the roomy back of restaurant tables for bigger parties or celebrations. I've been many times and always enjoy. My non vegan friends love it just as much - the crispy duck always a winner with those new to the plant based food experience. Great for takeaways. There's no alcohol on site but with liquor stores around, you can byo favourite beer to enjoy with your meal. This restaurant is a total delight and a wonderful addition to the Kingston restaurant scene for vegans and all food lovers alike.

UPDATE 2019. Visited on a trip down to Canberra. I wish this restaurant was in Sydney. I would be here everyday. Great service, great price, great menu. Still love it.
Read moreI have the complication of needing a gluten free diet. Banh Xeo is my favourite Vietnamese dish. What a pleasure to be able to have my favourite dish and not have to worry. They also customised it for me so I could have it with tofu. The table attendant was really lovely. The place is well set out too. Definitely worth trying. Will certainly be on my list of regular places to dine or grab takeaway.

We go to An Nguyen Vegan every time when we feel lazy to cook at home and want to have a few healthy and tasty dishes for a change. The food is great! We enjoyed the crispy Salt and Chilli Mushrooms and Eggplant Hot Pot, very delicious healthy dishes, there are also some nice soy meat dishes. This place is certainly a totally vegan recipe including some gluten free, certainly one of the best vegan restaurants.

Disappointing - Edit
I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately I didn't. Throughout the meal there were screaming children in the otherwise quiet restaurant who were there because their parents were working there. Other people complained about them but it didn't stop even then. I didn't get the meal I ordered ( I got the one next to it on the menu). The food was ok and they're aren't that many options in Canberra on a Tuesday night but I will go elsewhere next time.

Hi fletchiekins! We are very sorry for the unpleasant experience! We are undergoing a new management and ensuring staff will not take their children to work (it was a short period that they couldn’t manage the childcare, however that undesirable situation will not happen again). We look forward to welcoming you again in the near future with a quiet atmosphere restaurant.
