You can get anything from cleaning products to consumables. They also stock vegan footwear - including hiking boots, work shoes and trainers.
There is an excellent selection of groceries.
If you don't need any of the typical essentials, they have a substantial collection of treats. Their variety of chocolates is terrific. There is something for everyone here. You have a plethora of choice.
There is also a discount section which we frequently find useful. It is always a pleasant place to peruse.
If you are vegan and/or have special dietary requirements, Alternative Stores have everything you need when you want to 'pop to the shop'.

Love this store. So much choice and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They also have a loyalty card system. Managed to pick up lots of christmas treats for my son. Next door to VegBox so able to go for cake and a cuppa after a shop. So pleased its moved premises

Read moreHowever, since moving into new premises they now have 2 separate delivery charges for their chilled/frozen produce which equates to handily an extra fiver in their greedy hands.
Add this onto the £4.99 DPD delivery charge that's £10 for delivery for even 1 pack of say frozen sausages and one pack of chilled produce!
Absolutely shocking considering that never charged separately before. I guess it's to pay the rent in their new swanky premises.
You're gonna lose customers, you have with me and at least one more I know.
Learn a lesson from Vbites, £1.99 next day DPD and frozen box....

We are so lucky to have this shop in Newcastle. They are so friendly here and always offer to buy in anything that you may be looking for. There’s always something new on offer anytime we stop in. It’s also massively improved over the last couple years after the change in ownership. Before they always seemed to offer the same few things, but now there’s so many new brands coming in all the time you never know what you might find.

Huge selection of vegan products and one of the first all vegan shops I have been able to find. It's fantastic that it also has a selection of vegan shoes and cleaning products etc... And it's easy because everything is guaranteed to be vegan. The staff are really friendly and chatty. The only down side is that it took us so long to find as the location is a little odd and the sign posting is lacking.

Plenty of vegan and veggie staples and items which are not available in the standard high street health food shops. Veganaise, tempeh, Seitan, melty cheese and more tofu than you can shake a stick at. My only criticism is that when we went 7/01 I found the 2 staff a little frosty and not especially helpful which wasn't great considering how far we had travelled to visit. Last time the lady working was really friendly, loads of hints tips and recommendations - keen to engage. A good place to start when you are navigating life as a new vegan! About the same prices as Holland &a Barrett

I live about 9 miles away form this store but it is worth visiting (even though it offers mail order) as the staff are so friendly and approachable. I was delighted to see they sell Bonanza Veggie Steaks as they have been a delicious must for me for many years (I used to buy them in Fenwicks who discontinued them, no doubt to make way for more animal products.:-( ) I like the fact that the website has tips on how to use the products, for example I now make my own 'meat' (seitan) by using their gluten flour and following the recipe on their site. Shopping here is a very enjoyable experience and the staff put a lot into their store.
