Outstanding

What a find! This place has lots of vegan options and it is completely palm oil free! The place also advocates for Great Ape conservation and are anti plastic. Just wish they would go completely vegan as their menu does seem somewhat contradictory to their message. Also dog friendly

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Palm oil free, Charity

Cons: Not all vegan , Very busy

Great vegan breakfast

A quirky and welcoming atmosphere for our breakfast this morning! Service was great, vegan breakfasts were delicious and a bit different than a standard breakfast, with a spicy kick! As well as cooked breakfast they had vegan granola and porridge as options.

Pros: Atmosphere, Tasty food

5 in the family

Really enjoyed the decor inside. The chandeliers are wonderful reused bits and bobs of everyday.
Food we ordered - the vegan sausage sandwich on a normal slice of bread, the hummus plate and 3 portions of chips along with a gorgeous oat Chai latte.

There was more food options thoroughout the menu including cake.

Pros: Definitely ecclectic and a feast for the eyes, Chips are a good sized portion

Cons: Sandwich slightly on the small side.

Disapointing with lack of vegan options

Specifically went here after positive happy cow reviews, but disapointed with lack of vegan options. Vegan cheese platter has been discontinued off menu, despite staff telling us it had been really popular. Why discontinue vegan option that has been popular?

Pros: Supports orangutans

Cons: discontinued vegan platter

Absolutely amazing choice!

This is an incredible cafe located in the centre of Betws-y-Coed. They have lots of vegan options (including a separate vegan menu!) both savoury and sweet. We opted for the hummus plate and the mixed salad and had a slice of almond and seeds cake for a sweet treat. Would thoroughly recommend if you’re ever in the area!

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Friendly, Generous portions

Conservation ethics plus vegan menu

Great find in an area we hadn't expected much of a vegan offering. Full vegan menu. Great service. Loved the atmosphere and the commitment to making a positive impact regarding conservation. Great that their policies are clearly explained, too, so they get noticed. Palm oil free and related charities supported. Such a shame meat and dairy is still served as this seems in conflict with their ethos, but maybe the balance will tip towards vegan as time moved on.

Pros: Ethics, Vegan menu, Service

Cons: Serves meat and dairy

Plenty of vegan options

Nice rainforest themed cafe in a popular Snowdonia tourist area. There is artwork displayed on the wall showing the great apes they are raising money and awareness for. To this aim, the menu is also palm oil free. There is a whole page of vegan meal options in the menu, with options like cooked breakfast, burgers, salad, topped jacket potatoes, curry. Hot drinks can be served with oat milk, and there are vegan flapjacks and cakes available. We enjoyed a black bean burger (included vegan cheese) and a vegetable curry, along with fruit smoothies and stem ginger cake, all of which was nice. The only annoyance was that it looked like the server was using the same tongs to pick up vegan and non-vegan cake - not great for cross contamination. Dogs are allowed in the cafe, which was a big bonus for us.

Pros: whole page of vegan options, dogs welcome, palm oil free

Cons: cross contamination risk with cakes, serves meat

A varied and extensive vegan menu.

This cafe/restaurant is definitely vegan friendly. Although they serve meat and fish their vegan menu is extensive and varied. We ate there twice and enjoyed it both times especially the all day vegan breakfast. Well worth a visit.

Best flapjacks ever

Called in starving after a long mountain run and got the best flapjacks as well as stem ginger cake which was lovely. Was nearly closing time, couldn’t linger but lovely and friendly. Worth a visit.

Great

Great vegan options, I like the ethos of the place, they don't do takeaway cups so as to cut down on waste, and no straws either for the same reason, I like that they educate their customers as well as feed them.

What i did find confusing is how they still serve meat when they speak about deforestation for palm oil and they clearly are trying to make a difference. I just found it a little conflicting.

Pros: Great ethos, Cutting down on waste, Great location for walks

Cons: Conflicting views

Impressed

Even though this appears like a regular café in a very busy area (seasonal) it has a vegan page in the menu. I enjoyed the club sandwich and desert.

Pros: Nice interior, Freindly staff

VEGAN CAKE!

We are local to Alpine cafe, yet I have never got around to writing a review. My husband is vegetarian and I am vegan, and we enjoy eating at Alpline cafe. It has a great ethical approach to palm oil, which is uses the cafe to raise awareness with the brilliant orangutan and monkey theme. There are numerous vegan options, which are clearly labeled in the menu. MOST IMPORTANTLY there is ALWAYS vegan cake. Vegan cake is not so easy to come by in the area, so this is a winner for me. The food is good, but certain items are average. The chips always seem to let the meal down, but otherwise the mains are good. This cafe is also dog-friendly, they even give dogs a free sausage! Be aware, it does get busy and you won't always find a table. In peak season, the prices can become a little unreasonable too. Oh, and the tea menu is EPIC. So good too! If you're in the area, it is worth a visit.

Pros: Cake! , Ethical standards on palm oil, Monkeys!

Cons: Can be very busy

Great vegan breakfast !

I visited the cafe on a rainy morning and it was really busy, but still got a nice seat outside the back. The vegan breakfast was delicious and totally worth visiting for. There weren't many vegan cake options that I could see whilst I was there, but the menu had loads of clearly marked vegan options so I would recommend visiting if you're in the area. :)

Pros: lively cafe in good location, lots of vegan options of the menu

excellent food at good prices

Went there today for lunch. I had the hummous and chutney sandwich with salad and a smoothie. it was very busy and it took a long time to get served, but the food was absolutely excellent and all the staff were lovely. I think we just hit them on a busy holiday weekend! the vegan cakes were also delicious, I got two to take away. there were at least 3 vegan cake or bake options. a lovely surprise!

Nearly great

This place is eclectic and has a great look and feel to it, with maybe 6 or 7 vegan options for lunch - various curries and burger options. I went for the club sandwich, which was made with hoummous and was delicious - although the accompanying salad was a bit basic (iceberg lettuce, two quarters of tomato, a few slices of cucumber and slivers of carrot) and tasted mostly of chlorine. The black-eyed bean burger was also good but the chips were a bit flaccid and underdone.

There are plenty of vegan cakes available, and three choices of non-dairy milk - coconut, almond and oat. A massive range of teas too, and I have to say that the assam I got with oat milk was probably one of the best brews I've ever had.

There's a lot going for this place - they're very proudly palm oil-free, for example, and it's great that there's a cafe with so many vegan options in a tourist hotspot - but just a couple of things mean it's not as brilliant as it could easily be.

Pros: Great selection of options, Nice building and setting, Assam tea with oat milk!

Cons: Slow service when busy, Boring chlorinated salad

Great find in an unlikely place

I was visiting the station as part of a work project and was expecting to have to have chips or another vegan fallback during my lunch break, so was very pleased to see "vegan options" written on the Alpine's board!
I had a really nice and filling all-day vegan breakfast for £6.50, and they had half a page in the menu entitled "vegan options", as well as a vegan cake on the coffee counter.

Pros: Lucky find in a tourist area, Good food

Cons: A tad expensive

Caketastic!

Large selection of cakes, including several vegan cakes and at least four types of vegan flapjack. Freshly squeezed orange juice went well with the cakes. There's a nice view of the train station too, so you can watch the kids riding the miniature train :) Staff were friendly and helpful.

Pros: Lots of choice of vegan cakes, Reasonably priced

Alpine, Betws y Coed

This place isn't all vego but is vegan friendly and seems to be the best (only) such choice in betws at present. I had a very nice carrot and orange soup with some bread and a soya latte as a coffee. Both were great and not over priced. I really liked the staff who worked here who were good when shooting the breeze.

I would defo rate this place higher if it was all vego.

Pros: Vegan friendly, Nice staff

Cons: Not 100% vego

Very happy to unexpectedly find this place

I was rather excited to find this place whilst camping near to Betws y coed recently. As a vegan it's very rare to find vegan items on a menu but there was a selection and the food was good and the service was friendly if a little slow. There was not only a special vegan section on the menu but a range of vegan cakes and biscuits available.

Pros: Vegan section on menu, Pleasant environment

Cons: Slow service, Wasps!
