Great breakfast spot but be careful

Good vegan options. My food was tasty but here is what made me give 3 stars. They brought real butter with my vegan pancakes which was odd for me. They put butter on my toast without telling me and I had to find out the hard way. I assumed they either didnt care or didnt know. Thw waitress was nice though and took care of the situation but there should not have been a situation in the first place.

Consistently inconsistent.

The Allston Diner feels like it was plucked straight out of the 90s. I love the local art adorning the walls and I love seeing the waiters and waitresses interact with their regulars.

That being said, the food is never consistent.
I’ve ordered the Ultimate Vegan Breakfast twice and the Vegan BBQ Breakfast.
The first time I ordered the Ultimate Vegan, the food was perfection. The tofu scramble was light and fluffy; the sausage was cooked to perfection, and the tots had that perfect texture of crispy outside and soft potato-y inside.
The second time I ordered it, everything fell flat. The scramble was dense and over-seasoned, the tots were soggy and undercooked, however, the sausage was fine.
My third, and last visit, I ordered the BBQ Breakfast.
Very rarely do I leave a meal on my plate, whether I take it home or finish it in the restaurant. I was so repulsed by the texture and flavor of the seiten that I scraped it off and nibbled on the toast. It was almost as if they had forgotten to cook it.

Overall, when they get it right, they get it *right*. But, the lack of consistency has kept me from returning. I’m sure I will continue to try to chase the high of that first meal...

Pros: More than just a tofu scramble option, Good coffee

Cons: Service can be slow, Inconsistency

Vegan Brunch in Allston

I've been here a couple times now and have been working my way through the different vegan options. I had the flapjacks with blueberries last time, and was not particularly impressed. However, I got the Ultimate Breakfast with tofu scramble, toast, potatoes, and sausage and it was delicious! The potatoes were a little too crispy for my liking, but everything else was cooked well. I'm not sure what sausage they use or if they make their own patties, but as someone who didn't like sausage prior to being veg, I really enjoyed it!

Pros: Great tofu scramble, Friendly staff, Separate vegan section on the menu

Cons: Only 4 vegan options

great breakfast

Go here usually for breakfast with Omni friends. Love their scramble and coffee is always great. Wish it was bigger so we didn't have to wait for seating!

Pros: great food, great coffee

Cons: small, wish it was open earlier

Vegan Breakfast!

Breakfast is the hardest meal to eat out as a vegan. I was recently searching for a place for my husband (non-vegetarian) and I could both get what we wanted for breakfast. I stumbled across this place and I am really glad to have found it. They have a Vegan section on their menu that includes pancakes! You also can create your own tofu scramble and they have soy sausage and BBQ seitan.

Pros: Vegan Pancakes, Vegan Options

Cons: Small-not a lot of seating
