Delicious! - Edit
We made the trek from downtown Chicago to go to Alice and Friends and it was standout, it's no wonder it has 5 stars with nearly 100 reviews. The service was great, the menu offerings were extensive, portions were humongous, the cafe was cute and everything was reasonably priced! We had the wings, laksa and pho, and despite the allure of the dessert display, I could barely finish off my main, it was so much food! Definetly a gem in Chicago!

A lovely experience and phenomenal food - Edit
My parents and I had a feast here as we explored the menu. My favorite was possibly the tofu agedashi appetizer; my mother's favorite was the mint chocolate chip soy ice cream; my father's favorite was a tie between the sweet and sour cauliflower and the burger. Frankly, though, every one of the many items we had was fresh and delicious. This is my new favorite north shore restaurant!

What a disappointment… - Edit
Now, this is a two-part disappointment: one is for the food, the other for the lack of service.
Read moreFood: Now, I’ve sampled eight dishes from this place, so I’d say I’ve tried a decent enough amount to write a review.
Their Kingwich is very good, but it stops there. Their bánh mì was quite boring with outright bad bread and lack of veggies. Fries dumplings are run-of-the-mill and nowhere near Urban Vegan’s, if one were to compare. Vietnamese noodle salad was a dish I could have made better myself. Their rāmen was overly sweet, not nearly enough garlic and their rāmen noodles had little taste and were way over cooked. Seriously.. The carrot cake was filled with raisins, to each their own, but way to sweet and under seasoned, with too much of the mock cream cheese. The real travesty, though, was their bibimbap. The bottom of the dish is supposed to be either golden, or dark golden to add that crisp and texture to the dish. However it was: burnt to a crisp. The smell of charcoaled rice was so intense that it completely overshadowed the rest of the dish.
And this is where we wander into the service part:
The first time I had take-away there I ordered three things, and yet they managed to forget my fries. Found out after a 40-minute bike ride at 21:30…
Second time I visited was in the restaurant, where we waited nearly an hour for our entrees. Somehow this didn’t seem as something the waitress might communicate to us, and we ourselves had to go and ask where the food was. She told us she was sorry, and that it’d be another 10-15 minutes, after a, then, 45-minute wait.
Imagine then being served that travesty of a bibimbap. But here’s the kicker: when we mentioned it, the waitress actually said with a straight face, that that’s just how they prepare it there. What’s most mind-boggling to me is that she even said: “Yes, we get a lot of comments and complaints about that, and I have to tell them each time: that’s how it’s made here.” So after waiting an hour for our entrees, we get served charcoaled bibimbap and they end up saying that we can get 50% off on a replacement entree.
From a pure business side of things I really wonder why you’d lose the income of us staying for dessert, coming back, and recommending the place. They got, and will get, neither of those things.
The food would get a 3/5, but the abysmal service drags it down to 2/5.
The food is really neither authentic, nor hitting the right flavor notes; they’re trying to do way too much, food wise.
Pros: Kingwich
Cons: Trying too much; food wise, Trying too little (or nothing); service wise, Maybe good by American standards, but dull

We stopped in Chicago for the first time ever a couple of months ago and enjoyed a divine lunch at Fancy Plants. While there, the delightful staff recommended Alice and Friends for our future consideration. Well, we came back. We remembered. And we are so glad we did!!! Everything we ordered was incredible! We even ordered it in from 20 minutes away - still fantastic. The flavors work. Order it all. I dare you.

It honestly took us over fifteen minutes to decide what to order—every item seemed thoughtfully crafted and everything we tried was good. We got the Spicy BBQ, the Love Letter from the Earth salad, and the peanut butter chocolate mousse bar. My expectations were fairly high considering the price and reviews, but each dish felt like it was made with the care one might usually reserve for personal guests. I would probably opt to try other entrees next time, but the dessert was heavenly and definitely the highlight of the experience.

Just became my favorite restaurant in Chicago - Edit
I went here after a long flight, so I was really starving, and wow did they exceed my expectations! had the chow mein tofu. Let’s start with the portion size: it was more what I could’ve asked for, so that was great. Taste: It was the best chow mein I’ve eaten so far. Price: Fairly priced considering the portion size.

Alice and Mush Love is a MUST - Edit
1st time here. Paid street parking available (currently $2.50 an hour). Cute place. Dine in available. Small groups of two or larger groups (they put the tables together). They also have a few stools available for single diners.
Read moreI started with the Tomka Soup. I have had this Traditional Thai Soup before at other locations. Coconut broth seasoned with lemon grass, lime juice, galangal, and kaffir lime leaves. It was good with a little kick. I would have preferred a little more bite. It also had vegetables in it.
Moved into mush love as an app. Wow! This is a must get. The trumpet mushrooms and secret seasonings were absolutely amazing. Would definitely come back even just for this. I don’t know how I missed the Bao buns but will come back to try those also.
I moved onto their Kung Pao Ding. Nice portion size dish. I had it with the fried tofu and loved it.
Many different options available and worth coming back to try every dish they have.
Pros: Many options, Good serving size, Good tasting food

Loving Hut - Edit
A rose by any other name… This is a Loving Hut under a nom de plume. That being said, the food is amazing, as is with most Loving Hut locations. My favorites include Blissful Joy (aka vegan shrimp), Salt n Pepper Popcorn Chicken, Satay Skewers, Corn Chowder, Chow Mein with “ham”, and Golden Yuba Fried Rice. Flavors are always exquisite. Service is typically very good.

Fresh, good quality - Edit
Crab Rangoon was full of "crab" and hardly any cream cheese which made it super flavorful. We took little bites to make it last longer. Cauliflower sweet and sour had veggies with just the right amount of crunch and using cauliflower instead of mock meat was very satisfying. Tiramisu was crabby and wonderful but does have a hint of coconut.

LOTS OF DELICIOUS OPTIONS! ! - Edit
We ordered the satay skewers, chow mein and dol sot bi bim bab and chocolate mousse pie. Let’s start with the pie - *sigh* - just get it. The satay was crispy and had a nice texture and sauces (esp the vinegar one). It tastes similar to the real thing. The chow mein was very flavorful and the noodles were delicious. The dol sot…was hot, healthy, comfort food. Overall so nice to have so many delicious choices and desserts!!
