Superb vegan fine dining - Edit
We feel so lucky to have secured a reservation on July 4th at this spot. So nice to have this vegan fine dining option in Old San Juan. Such nice ambiance and fantastic service— we had Angel as our server. We were on a bit of a time crunch and the restaurant really accommodated us, even gave us extra bread to soak up the yummy bits that remained on our plate. We were blown away by the papaya nigiri and the ricotta cappelletti— such depth of flavor. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a meal here.

Fantástico - Edit
Just a great experience from start to finish. Showed up here without a reservation (rookie move tbh), but the bartender/first person to greet us checked to see if there was an open table. We were lucky enough to snag a table in one of the back rooms.
Read moreSaw how good the arancini was in reviews so came looking for that. Didn’t realize they changed their menu, but I’m not mad at it at all. We got the ravioli, nigiri, and pasta bolognese including a costera and sangria for drinks. For dessert we tried both the pecan pie and tiramisu. Treat yoself.
The drinks were virgin, but very tasty. All the flavors came together super well in each dish. Nigiri was my favorite. The pasta a tad salty but the pasta cooked perfectly and made in house. Pecan pie was delicious with generous scoop of nice cream. Would definitely come back again. Thanks to our server Angel who was great!
Pros: All vegan, Atmosphere

Rooting for this place! - Edit
Loved everything! From the decor to the service, Aliado was an escape from all the tourist hustle just outside its doors. While there are few vegan restaurants in San Juan, this restaurant is a leader for the growing vegan scene. Every dish and drink felt so intentional and made with care.

Oasis of Deliciousness - Edit
I stayed a week in San Juan and finally got to try this place on my last night. Kitchen is open pretty late and I got lucky getting there before they closed it down. The bruschetta and tiramisu were amazing, the drinks spectacular, the staff warm, and the space (especially the courtyard) inviting. Best meal I had in the week.

Loved it, and so did my non-vegan husband - Edit
We came here for our anniversary dinner and it was perfect! I emailed a day before asking if I could get a last minute reservation, and they kindly accommodated. The staff was very nice and the food was EXCELLENT. I loved everything. My husband’s favorite was the arancini. Mine favorite was the papaya nigiri. My husband thought cacio e pepe needed more cheesy tag, but still great.

The perfect upscale vegan experience. - Edit
This place is an absolute culinary treasure! This was the best meal I've had in a very long time. Aliado is a high-end vegan tapas style place and I could not have been more impressed. The plates are like edible art, each bursting with flavor and creativity. The cocktails and mocktails were also incredible.
Read moreThe atmosphere is so cozy and intimate, tucked away in this old building with a moody vibe that just draws you in. It's the perfect spot for a memorable night out, filled with incredible food and good vibes. The staff were also so attentive and friendly.
Trust me, you won't want to miss out on this gem in Old San Juan!

Best food we had in PR - Edit
Worth the money, lives up to the hype. Tbh most food we had in PR was fairly bland and underwhelming. But not this, the food was interesting, fresh, and flavorful. If you're vegan in PR you MUST go here. Prepare to sip your drink and spend time enjoying yourself, it's not meant to be speedy service

A Real Treat - Edit
It was a charming space. The attention to detail is what I noticed first, the decor, the interesting but unobtrusive music, the graciousness of the servers. We shared the foccacio and the pumpkin pasta. The drink was good, but the pecan pie was to die for. It was perfect for our last night in San Juan.

The only vegan restaurant in Viejo San Juan - Edit
It’s the only vegan restaurant in Old San Juan. That alone is worth the visit but Aliado Bar & Aperitivo goes above and beyond with its thoughtful menu. Jessica sets the mood with an artisanal cocktail and Chef Jerome delivers with inventive and mouth-watering bites.
Read moreThe sueño con Firenze, a Negroni-inspired drink was a refreshing starter walking into the cozily lit space from the warm evening shower outside. This was quickly followed by the nigiri, made from rehydrated papaya placed on top of an eggplant slice; it was a bite. The unctuousness and the hint of umami hit the spot. Next, the arancini atop a creamy carrot sauce deftly hints of Chef’s skill with veganizing traditional dairy-based ingredients. (This guy makes his cashew cheese in-house.) It was a satisfying meal from start to finish.
Located near the southern end of Calle del Cristo, Aliado has a bar area, two small dining areas, and an intimate patio. If you’re in Viejo San Juan, Aliado is worth seeking out to complete your trip.

Why are you saying this is a "vegan" restaurant but then mention they use dairy? You do know the difference between plant-based foods & *vegetarian diet, right? (*a lot of animals being abused, enslaved, raped & murdered)
Read morejay.callores
Apologies if my post was unclear, but thanks for pointing it out, LliguerPR96. Aliado is vegan; it does not use animal products. I appreciate your passion and everything you do, but your comment reads condescending, especially to someone who's on the same side.

Unique and tasty dining experience 🤌🏿 - Edit
The food is divine 🤌🏿 Menu in restaurant is vegan by default (check pop-up menus though) and they have mocktails with alcohol-free alcohol which I appreciated (and alcoholic cocktails too). The housemade vegan cheese is 🗣 SOMETHING 👏🏿 ELSE 👏🏿... 😩👌🏿, and every dish is so creative. The chef is extremely talented and I can't wait to visit here again during my next visit to San Juan 😍
Read moreAlso the space has a lot of couch style seating, table seating, and a few bar stools, and the restaurant has cute vintage and rustic touches
