It was very clean and well decorated. Service was awesome! The food we tried was all really good. There isn’t much around that area and to find a restaurant my family can eat at was amazing. The only bad thing is they can get really busy and we were not able to eat there the first night we tried.

Great vegan options in northern michigan - Edit
It's usually difficult to eat vegan in the area. However, this restaurant provides great vegan options to choose from. Some of my favorites include: the veggie burger, sweet potato fries, and pretzel. Also, they can add daiya cheese to any meal, so don’t forget to get some on the burger! They even have brownie bites. If you're passing by, definitely stop in!

Vegan Friendly Place - Edit
Food was excellent -- we had the veggie burger and the pizza -- they had several other options as well, including the ability to swap out MEAT for Tofu in many dishes. An unexpected find in the Oscoda MI area (east/sunrise side - on Lake Huron). what we really enjoyed was the friendly waitstaff -- and the owner came to our table to show us the vegan options. I think there were at least 3 -- I highly recommend the chocolate lava cake, it was amazing (and I love desserts and can judge them harshly). soil you are in Tawas, Oscoda or even Harrisville -- check this place out!

Alcona Brew Haus had a decent selection of vegan options, as well as vegan desserts. They list all of their allergens on the menu and have GF options as well. Service was amazing, and our server was very knowledgeable on the vegan options of the menu. Our pizza was loaded with toppings! We will definitely be back on our next trip up.

Compared to other northern Michigan restaurants, the vegan options are great! There was a pizza option, pulled bbq jackfruit sandwich ($14), and smoked tofu stir fry over rice entree ($19). Beer options are great too (not marked vegan or not).

Thank you so much for your review! We have a few more vegan options. For appetizers: our pretzel is vegan and is delicious with mustard. Also our Lost Lake Flatbread can be vegan by changing the cheese to dairy-free mozzarella. We have tofu as an option to add to salads. We use a smaller menu during the summer holidays but our full menu offers a vegan fried rice. Now for desserts... we have 5 vegan desserts!!

Vegan Options at a great Brew House - Edit
So happy that we stumbled across the Alcona Brew Haus last year! We came for the beer, but were so pleasantly surprised by the food. The staff is exceedingly friendly and the food is great. Both times we have had the vegan pizza, but on our next trip will definitely try the vegan entree. We were totally shocked when we discovered they even had 2 vegan dessert options, both were very good. Thankful to have these vegan options is such an unexpected location (the farther you travel North in Michigan the further you usually get from vegan options).

Great unexpected Vegan options. - Edit
I did not expect any restaurants near where I am visiting to have vegan options and was pleasantly surprised tonight! The Vegan Noted was delicious and I would get it again. The veggie burger looked great as well. Lots of options here including desserts and pizza! The owner and staff were very nice and welcoming. I will be back next time I'm in the area.

My husband and I live about 45 mins away and ONLY found out about this place from our local paper! They stated they were vegan and allergy friendly! We have no vegan or plant based options around us so eating out is not really an option. We had to come try this place out. We were TOTALLY IMPRESSED! Janene was our server and she was awesome! Very knowledgeable and helpful! My husband tried the Vegan Noted which is pasta with tofu, brussel sprouts and veggies. I got the veggie burger minus the provolone and mayo. But the option for vegan cheese is available! Yay! We loved every bite! The dessert was so delicious! Can't wait to spread the word. We will definitely be back! Thank you for the vegan options! Can't wait to see it grow!!

Read moreThe owner, Sandy, comes to our table each time, and wants to know our thoughts on new vegan meals she’s considering. In addition to the good veggie burger on the menu, she recommends asking if the Pasta Experiment is available. We finally ordered it last week, and it was delicious, filled with smoked tofu, veggies, and pasta. She has also added a vegan dessert, Chocolate Bliss. Outstanding! It also pairs well with their Total Eclipse Stout.

Being in rural Michigan vegan friendly restaurants are hard to find, but Alcona Brew Haus made it very easy to eat out.
