Take-out
Non-veg
Serves meat, vegan options available. Japanese food and sushi bar but you'll be able to find a few vegan options, including seaweed salad, edamame, tempura (ask if uses shared fryer), maki rolls and more. Note that the miso soup is reported to have fish broth and the teriyaki sauce is reported to have been cooked with chicken bones. Has brown rice. By the train station - not much else for veg/vegan food in this area.

Just okay - Edit
This restaurant is right next to the train station, so it’s convenient but don’t expect to be wowed. If you’re absolutely starving, this is an okay place to stop by.
Read moreI didn’t see any dishes marked as vegan on the menu. I ordered edamame and some brown rice, and asked them if they could make me some steamed veggies.
The steamed veggies portion they gave me was microscopic and didn’t hold a candle to the steamed veg I’ve had at other Japanese restaurants where it’s actually an item on the menu and can be a pretty filling meal.
They did have one or two sushi rolls that I think could be made vegan. Thankfully staff spoke fairly fluent English so I think I may take the risk and try for sushi next time.

Delicious, but check ingredients! - Edit
Tell them you’re vegan to avoid hidden animal products. Miso soup has fish broth, and teriyaki sauce is made with boiled chicken bones. They are very knowledgeable about what dishes are vegan or can be altered to be vegan. The veg rolls (like sweet potato tempura and avocado with peanuts) are super yummy!

Sweet Potato Roll - Edit
We got the vegetable tempura and I believe the vegetable combo? Everything was really well done and portion sizes were perfect.

Nice lunch menu - Edit
There are about 7 or 8 veggie rolls to choose from on the lunch special menu. All are fresh and well made - my favorites are peanut avocado and Veggie Supreme. This comes with a salad or miso soup.

Vegan option when in Poughkeepsie - Edit
This nice Japanese/Sushi restaurant near the train station offers many vegan-friendly options including: vegetable makis, edamame and miso soup. Food was good quality and the place was spotlessly clean.
