Amazing food, bit pricey though - Edit
Took me a while to find it, as it's a door with few words on it, but I'm glad I did! Good was amazing and everything is vegan, including some amazing deserts. Was quite expensive though, but for a fully vegan cafe in Tokyo that was somewhat expected.

Delicious food in a lovely atmosphere. - Edit
I had a dish that had a little bit of everything. The salad was fantastic, in fact, it was all really delicious. My children loved the wraps and the creme brûlée. I saw someone eating the curry and I thought that next time I would order that. It may have been a little pricey, but I think it was worth it for what you got. We ordered a lot and it all got eaten. Even the Omni enjoyed the dishes.

AMAZING - Edit
After reading so many positive reviews about Ain Soph, we were excited to visit this location, and we weren't disappointed! We ordered a lot of different items and everything was perfect: Sanctuary Course (salad parfait, tomato soup, fried veg meat, tortillas with dip, dessert plate), Kara-Age (fried chick'n), Havashi Rice (mushroom and tomato based stew with brown rice), and Crème Brûlée. If we had more room in our stomachs, we'd have ordered even more!

If a Pancake and a Scone had a baby - Edit
Vegan cafe with western Japanese fusion menu. I tried the pancakes which was like if a pancake and a scone had a baby. It was accompanied with cream, jam and icecream along with a selection of fruits. It was great! Provides English menus which some staff may speak little English due to its proximity to Shinjuku station. Recommend if visiting Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden.

Good vegan food! - Edit
A really nice cafe with a good feel to it. I got the green curry which was good but my partner went for the pancakes which were amazing! They were super fluffy and the taste and texture felt like a pancake and a scone had a baby. Served with fruit, ice cream, cream and jam! They even have a sign out the front listing all the places with vegan options within walking distance

Somewhat disappointing - Edit
Maybe we had too high expectations for this one? We really enjoyed ripple, and thought this would be a more upscale experience. Food was only ok. Service was super slow. Pancakes were amazing, but we had to give up after only receiving one set rather than the 2 we ordered after nearly 40m. We were told it would be another 20 for the second order!! It was also very expensive for what it was (salad, taco rice, ok curry, an uninteresting rice dish, and sadly only one order of pancakes).

Came expecting burgers but left enjoying the curry! - Edit
After visiting one of the other locations we had expected the burgers but they don't do them here. Had the Kara age and the green curry which was delicious. Definitely recommend. It was quite busy when we arrived but we got a table. Fast turnaround and great service. Loved the biscuits which we took away.

Amazing but v popular! - Edit
We visited here yesterday and did have to collect a ticket from the machine and wait a little while (we came about 14:00 so thought it shouldn’t be too busy, but were mistaken!). However it wasn’t a long wait (maybe 20 minutes) and we enjoyed the set menu pasta dish, some fresh mint tea and the show - stopping pancakes which were amazing. Slightly on the expensive side but very friendly service and they also had lots of nice things you could buy to take home.

Really enjoyed dinner here. We ordered the karaage (the best mock chicken I’ve ever eaten) to start, Mexican style salad wraps and the paneer curry to share for our mains. Super interesting flavours.

An Experience - Edit
This is hands down the best vegan restaurant that I have eaten at during my time in Tokyo. It is a little more expensive than most restaurants, but given the quality, it is definitely worth it. The staff were so lovely and super accomodating. I had a mushroom entree, curry for a main, the dessert plate and two cocktails. Extremely pleasant experience, I cannot recommend enough.

I got here pretty early so I did not have to wait luckily. The queue quickly got very long so be prepared to wait for a while if you have no reservation.
Read moreI ordered the everything course meal. I loved almost everything about this. I didn't really like the tacos that much. They had way too much bland salad in them and could have done with some more flavour to me. But everything else was phenomenal. The entire course was so big, I almost waddled back home with my belly out. It's quite pricey so no second time for me, but if I had the money to spend I'd love to have tried every dish on the menu!
Pros: Lots of flavour variation, Ingenuity with ingredients.
Cons: expensive, but worth it.

Gluten-free Vegan Pancakes. Need I say more? - Edit
Okay, so as a vegan in Japan, the Ain Soph chain of restaurants in Tokyo and Kyoto is a god send. Journey is easily located from Shinjuku Station and has AMAZING desserts.
Read moreI got the fried chicken, green curry, and a limited time dessert of white chocolate and strawberry pancakes. The fried chicken is good, but personally skippable (mine's better), but the curry was amazing. It tastes exactly like palak paneer. I don't know how they made the "cheese" but I approve.
The main event, however, was the dessert. The pancakes were fluffy, moist, and delicious, and the strawberry and chocolate sauce paired with the homemade ice cream was down right sinful. Why would anyone want to eat dairy again. Unfortunately, they aren't currently selling those particular pancakes, but they usually have a limited set going on. Please get it.
Pros: excellent food, nice vibe, close to the action
Cons: slightly pricey, usually need a reservation

The pancakes! - Edit
This was a great spot for supper. Pineapple infused water was freely available and the food was good and quick to arrive. The best part of the meal was the pancakes, which were incredible and highly recommended!

I really like this place and I come a lot but the menu is always changing which can be nice but also disappointing if you are going to eat a particular dish on their menu. Definitely recommend but just be mindful that the menu is always changing.

Heartwarming stew and super fluffy pancakes - Edit
We arrived at around 1:30pm and there was a bit of a line. I only had to wait around 30 minutes. We ordered the hiyashi stew, pasta special, tofu kaarage and strawberry pancakes. Everything was out of this world! The hiyashi stew was rich and flavourful. Kaarage was juicy and tasted like legit chicken. The strawberry pancakes were a piece of heaven.

Vegan Pancake Anyone? - Edit
Read my full review here: https://itravelforveganfood.com/ain-soph-journey/
Read moreAin Soph Journey is a vegan fusion style restaurant operated by the Ain Soph group. They serve everything from japanese curry, assorted salad plate, and some of the most delectable desserts.
Their pancake is a must-try dish. It’s soft, fluffy and heavenly. It is served with whipped cream, ice cream and other toppings. The one I had was a chestnut pancake, which is a Autumn limited edition. They always have new seasonal items.
The pesto pasta is also pretty great. Perfectly cooked with good seasonings. It comes with a salad on the side.
It is quite a busy restaurant. It only has about 15 tables and is popular with both local people and tourists. So allocate more time if you choose to eat here.
Ain Soph Journey, as well as other restaurants under the Ain Soph name, could be a bit pricey. A pasta dish, pancake and a drink cost around 30-40 USD, but if you don’t mind spending a bit more on a vegan meal, this restaurant is totally worth it.
Pros: All vegan cafe, Delicious food, especially the pancake
Cons: A bit pricey

Worth the splurge - Edit
We decided to celebrate the birthdays of two of our dear friends and fellow 4AJ activists here at Ain Soph Journey, which is located right in front of exit C5 of Shinjuku Sanchome station. We got there a few minutes before they open, at 11:30, and already there was a crowd of people waiting to get in. This place is popular!
Read moreThe restaurant is small but nicely decorated and has a really nice vibe to it. We tried the Lunch Party Plan at 3800 yen per person, plus 1500 yen for the premium all-you-can-drink plan, which comes with a serving of chips and salsa. The party plan also includes salad, soy meat karaage, tofu Spanish omelettes, your choice of entree, and dessert.
We were really impressed by the food and the presentation. The salad was served in a generous portion, with fun chunks of vegetables inside. The karaage was great and gets bonus points for not being oily. I was pleasantly surprised at how egg-y the egg-free omelettes looked and tasted.
We chose taco rice for our entree, and everyone agreed that it was an excellent choice indeed. The meat tasted to me like a better version of Taco Bell, which is a good thing in my book. Dessert was small but fantastic— a little brownie with whipped cream and two slices of fresh fruit. I have no idea how they make their whipped cream or what’s in it, but it’s pretty amazing.
We admit to experiencing a little sticker shock when it came time to pay up, as tax wasn’t included in the prices. Still, we really enjoyed our experience here, and definitely think you should give this place a try as well.
