The ambience and labeled vegan options are the only positives going for this place. The food is so average, I could cook better at home.
Read moreWe ordered Kololi which is vegan by default and “From the Field” plate with afghan rice. We knew the Kololi would be spicy but it was only bland glutinous patties in tomato purée with heat and no other flavor, there was no balance of spices that you’d typically expect from ethnic cuisines. The plate with eggplant, potato and sautéed spinach was okay, pretty forgetful to be honest.
We also got afghan tea (green tea with cardamom) which was good and at the end we ordered pistachio gelato to go, it was delicious.
I am glad we tried this place, it’s nice to see them catering to vegan and vegetarian customers, but I wouldn’t go again nor recommend them for their food.

Amazing Experience - Edit
Lovely restaurant with a good selection of vegan and vegetarian options but also meat options for omnis as well. There are a number of vegan dishes on the menu and many that can be prepared as vegan. All options are clearly marked. Servers were attentive and helpful. We will be back to try other dishes.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner. It's hard in Surrey to find a place with vegan dishes. This was great. We let the server know we were vegan and she was vegan too so she helped us order some really great things from the menu. The have a sitting area on the floor with pillows. It was so comfortable and the food was amazing. Very favorable. I can't say enough about the service. It was excellent service. I work in the Hospitality industry and I appreciate when servers in restaurant are attentive and good at exceeding the needs of their guests. This was in my top 5 for great dining experiences.

I love Afghan Kitchen! All the vegan options are flavourful and delicious. The boulany is my absolute favourite. The servers are super knowledgeable and accommodating when it comes to vegan options. In addition to very tasty food, Afghan Kitchen is a family-owned business with a great story.
