Sad. Used to be super vegan friendly…… - Edit
I used to wax poetic about Acre when they had lots of delicious things for vegans to eat….but now we vegans are limited to special ordering the fried Brussels sprouts starter (hold the cheese) and a sad cauliflower steak from the “sides” menu that is served without anything else on the plate. No greens, beans or other veggies. That’s it. There is nothing else to order. For a farm-to-table restaurant, they really need to think more creatively about how to serve delicious and creative vegan dishes, and indicate on the menu what can be easily veganized. (The grilled Cesar salad with the NYTs vegan Cesar dressing would satisfy omnivores too, as one small example. Or at least offer that dressing as an option B for vegans and dairy-free folks.) Still a stunning place and I love it….but no longer vegan-friendly. Pre-eat and come for cocktails.

Review for animal sanctuary only - Edit
Full disclosure- didn't eat here yet I would try the restaurant should I find myself in San José del Cabo again- but I wanted Happy Cow travelers to know that it is completely free to walk their resort grounds and visit the dog rescue and animal sanctuary. The staff was welcoming and even got us bicycles so we could ride around and explore. Worth a trip just to visit with the animals and they looked happy and well-cared for.

Beautiful setting - Edit
The whole resort was like an oasis. I had the veggie wrap, which was listed as vegan but also included fermented fish sauce in the description, and the waiter said they had a separate vegan sauce, which was balsamic vinegar reduction. It was good if basic. The vegan cheesecake was fantastic. Loved the setting.

Bridal shower dream - Edit
Hosted a surprise bridal shower here, the setting is absolutely gorgeous. I couldn’t dream up a more beautiful spot to host. The staff was so helpful and communicative. They were amazing with helping with all dietary restrictions for all of our party goers. The vegan options turned out to be SO heavenly. If you are planning to host an event, stay on the property or just have a great day. You should spend time here.

Really great - Edit
We had dinner here while in town and were not disappointed. The food was great, decent amount of vegan options. The brownie was outstanding! They even had an animal sanctuary that was great! Loved it! Would give 5 stars if I could!

A few vegan options in lovely setting - Edit
We ate dinner, and really enjoyed the amuse bouche and cocktails. The beet tartar was likewise very good. We got the cauliflower dish, which was sprinkled with a few lentils. Some of it was really undercooked and hard to cut, and other parts were an unpleasant texture. We also got the black bean burger, which was tasty. Many vegetarian items seem close to vegan but are not, and there was no offer to customize. staff were very attentive and friendly.

Cons: Little protein in vegan choices, Expensive , Far from anything else

Great Food, but Always ask questions - Edit
Eating vegan in a non-vegan restaurant can be a risk. You have to be careful to ask questions and reinforce them over and over. I applaud all non-vegan restaurants when they have options, but they really have to be vigilant. Our meal was very good. There is a vegan menu with plenty of high-end options. That said, they messed up our first three items and added dairy. They apologized and fixed it. But it’s something that shouldn’t happen. Our favorite was the cauliflower three ways and the Brussels sprouts.

Cons: they messed up first three dishes , they needed several reminders that we’re vegan

Excellent addition to the SJD dining scene with vegan options - Edit
I had dinner here last night and requested the 7-course vegan option. The service was excellent as was the food. The Executive Chef, Kevin Luzande, came to the table with each course to detail each dish. I was impressed with the flavors and presentation. They grow many, if not all, of the vegetables they use. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. I've lived in Southern Baja for almost 12 years and it's one of the best meals we've ever had here. The setting is beautiful as well. There are so many different kinds of palm trees and agaves, etc. in the gardens. The architecture is very modern, yet rustic and inviting. While I said it was expensive, that's expensive for SJD. I still found the cost for our meal along with a cocktail very reasonably priced especially when you consider the quantity and quality of the meal we ate. I would happily eat here again and recommend it highly especially if you are on vacation and are looking for a memorable evening. Don't forget to let them know you are vegan. The main menu doesn't indicate any vegan options, but they do have a separate menu!!
