Prohibitively expensive - Edit
Big markups. I can understand part of it with them being a co-op, but we're talking 20-30% over Wegmans prices (which are not as low as they used to be!) on many standard things. The vast majority of their selection is organic, which is great if you prefer organic, but it just makes everything even more expensive on top of the markup. I can't afford to shop here.

Awesome! - Edit
Love the new location! Super spacious store and easy parking. Wide variety of all my favorite vegan products. They have coolers with some grab and go prepared foods like burritos, salads and desserts. Will definitely be back.

Not a good place for vegans - Edit
They are not very appreciative of vegans, at a summer event one of the board members was openly antagonistic toward veganism.
Read moreThey have a hot bar but never any vegan food, they had Beans and Rice and it had chicken broth. They put cheese in everything and run out of vegan food quite often.
Everything is heavily marked up, which I don't mind in a place that holds an ethical line. Unfortunately it's not this place.
Cons: Not a place for vegans to find food.

new location better - Edit
The store recently changed locations It is now located in the south wedge neighborhood on South Avenue. The building parking is in the back of the building where the entrance is. There is a nice area now to eat in with tables and chairs. They offer a discount once a month if you are a member.

Nice Market, Good Atmosphere, Eclectic Selection - Edit
Abundance is a nice community. It has a nice selection of organic and local foods and sells quite a few things that you cannot find elsewhere in Rochester. The bulk section has a very nice assortment of dried fruits, nuts, granola, and baking supplies. Although I prefer the bulk section at Lori's, Abundance has an unbeatable location; it's actually in city center. Apart from the one Wegmans location in the city, Abundance is the best place to get groceries in city center. Abundance has a wide selection of frozen foods and a nice mix of non-dairy ice cream. They also have very delicious prepared sandwiches (try their chicken-fried tofu!) and entrees (the dumplings are great)! On top of this, they have an area with tables and chairs, fee wi-fi, and a bike rack. My main complaint is that their produce section is a tad small and pricey (although it is all excellent and I think this means that their farmers get a fair price).

Good Enough - Edit
As others mentioned, this is a small grocery place but with enough items that you need, including some baby food, diapers. i like the bulk items section. The deli is very small, basically just bagels, one meat soup and a slightly spicy chilli (so not good for young children. If you intend to eat, may be just go to the nearby The Owl House). i did a take away big cup chilli, it costed only $4. There is a sitting area which is good enough for may be 10-15 people at a time. It is around 1 mile walking from downtown (i started from Hyatt). If you use the pedestrian path of Clinton Avenue, the neighbourhood doesn't seems very run down. But it does if you walk from Monroe.

Abundance - Edit
Used to be Genesee Food Co-Op on Monroe...I have been going there since I was a kid. A great natural food market with many vegetarian/vegan options. Smaller than Lori's, but they have most anything you need. Right across the street from The Owl where Atomic Eggplant used to be. Friendly staff and a local feel with a bulletin board with area postings. You can eat-in, and they have homemade veggie sandwiches and lunch choices. Love it!

Awesome little store! - Edit
This is just an awesome little store! A great selection for the health minded person and most items are more affordably priced. some aren't - so know your prices! - but most are for this type of food and products. More affordable than Lori's and the staff are super friendly and helpful!

Yum! - Edit
Abundance is just that... an abundance of choices for vegans, vegetarians, and for omnivores who are mindful of where their meat comes from (they now have meat from local, small farm suppliers). It is more expensive than some of the other stores, but it's not as expensive as Lori's, and it has a good variety of items packed in. I love the entire shopping experience and the feeling of family-- the cooperative members seem to know everyone who walks in the door.

Abundance has what you need - Edit
Abundance is a cooperative grocery store and deli that serves homemade sandwiches and wraps, soups and delicious desserts. Many vegan options. Try the vegan BLT, chickpea salad wrap or mock chicken salad. You can eat dinner here for about $ 10.00 including sandwich, soup and drink. You can also get groceries and produce that are organic/fairtrade. Check it out!
