Best bagel I've ever had - Edit
This was a legit bagel. Immediately after eating it I became depressed because it was gone. All other bagels are ruined now. I got the herbs tofutti and it was to die for.

Absolute Bagels - Edit
These bagels are absolutely incredible! We were lucky to arrive on a Saturday morning when the everything bagels were just finished cooking. Which meant they were hot, super chewy on the inside, and crunchy on the outside. The tofu garlic and chive cream cheese was to die for. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Absolute Bagels is leaps and bounds better than Ess-A-Bagel.

Great Vegan Options - Edit
Really delicious tofu options - I especially recommend the toasted bagel option. So crunchy! And a nice balance to the spread. I had the Tofutti with sundried tomatoes, and it was nice and hearty. Will definitely be back.
Read moreOne thing to be aware of (as others have pointed out) - cash only! Potentially, there might be a long line, too, so bring enough time as well as cash.
Pros: selection, price, quality of the food
Cons: potentially long lines

Good bagels with Tofutti cream cheese choices - Edit
It is difficult to get that excited about a place whose vegan items consist of bagels plus tofutti cream cheeses. To be fair, they have a lot of variety of tofutti cream cheeses, and the bagels do taste good. Note that not all the tofutti cream cheese flavors are vegetarian: the tofutti lox spread has fish.

Vegan cream cheese selections!!! - Edit
Not only are the bagels (except for the egg one) vegan, but they have a legit selection of house made tofutti cream cheeses (that mirror all the dairy ones). A real New York bagel and Schmeer without the cruelty!

Special Tofu Spreads - Edit
The bagels are definitely good, but the flavors and freshness of the tofu spreads are what sets this place apart as a destination.
Read moreThey have delicious sundried tomato-basil...and an herb tofu spread that is just amazing. It’s like nothing I’ve seen offered elsewhere. It’s packed full of herbs. What’s in it? Herbs de Provence? Rosemary? Other stuff? I don’t know, but it’s great and compliments any savory-ready bagel quite nicely. They have a sweet option, too, walnut-raisin, maybe. It’s all good, but I prefer the flavors I can only get here.
I even like the way the spreads are presented in the case to choose from: a heaping mound in a metal container with the flavored ingredients sprinkled on top. There’s something that feels so homemade about it. They scoop it out neatly, from the back, all the way to the bottom.
I also enjoy how you can see back to where they make the bagels right over the counter. Watch them roll the dough into bagel shapes and see the huge vat they boil them in.
Dingy floor, wobbly tables, barely any place to sit, quick but friendly no-frills service, cash only. I love it all. Complete Upper West Side classic.
Pros: Unique tofu spread flavors, Quintessential New York experience, that’s also vegan
Cons: Best to take food to-go, Long lines show you you’ve found something good

Been going here for years! The line is always out the door but it's worth the wait. Best tofutti I've ever had! Along with the best, in my opinion, bagels in NYC.

An absolute must - Edit
These bagels are AMAZING and there is an extensive menu of tofutti cream cheese! Seriously, best bagels ever. HappyCow won’t let us give them 5 stars as they serve meat - but I would give them 6 or 7. Worth the wait.

Best cream cheese - Edit
I got black coffee, a cinnamon raisin bagel with the walnut and raisin toffuti cream cheese. i did not double check if the bagels are vegan, but I rarely come across bagels that aren't. There was a line out the door but it was worth the 20min wait. Best bagel and tofutti cream cheese I've ever had.
