Superb Syrian Food! - Edit
This place is awesome! It's an unnasuming little eatery just outside of the medina in Tangier. The staff are really kind and their menu has plenty of veg options.
Read moreI dined here twice during my stay as I loved the food so much. I tried vegetarian kibbeh, stuffed vine leaves, spinach borak, pomegranate hummus, and muhammara. Everything was delicious!
Highly recommended!
Pros: Delicious , kind staff, Multi-language picture menu

Great food, great service - Edit
The food was great, I had a mixed plate of hummus, baba ganoush and some other spread, of which I forgot the name, some bread, a lentil soup and a tea for only 55 dirham. The spreads tasted so good and the soup was great with all the different spices! The waiter and cook were so cute and helped me choose the food. Everything is labelled vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free on the menu but they also do serve meat there.

The owner was so kind and toned me about how he travelled to California (where I’m from) last year- after being in Morocco for a month it was a great break from the typical food😄

Great affordable food! - Edit
My partner and I went here for dinner and were happy with the food. We got falafel and two other dishes and they came with bread. The waiter knew what vegan was and was very friendly. The vegan options are clearly marked on the menu which is great. This is a nice little place! Cash only

Delicious Vegan-Friendly Syrian Dishes - Edit
Excellent location on the outside edge of the Tangier medina, a short walk from the Grand Socco gate. Two seating areas, separated by a hallway, with the kitchen on an upper level. So quite cozy but very clean and nicely decorated. Food is Syrian influenced, with an assortment of hummus, falafel, dolmas, and other traditional dishes, all vegan-friendly. Owner took our order in French but speaks some English and, of course, Arabic. Quite charming. We eat at Syrian restaurants often at home, in Barcelona, and Abou Tayssier did not disappoint in terms of flavour, portion size, and freshness. Unfortunately the pomegranate hummus was not available but we enjoyed the classic hummus instead. The prices were very reasonable given the location and we recommend Abou Tayssir to vegan and non-vegan diners looking for tasty Syrian food in Morocco.

A VEGAN TREASURE IN TANGIER - Edit
Stumbled across Abou Tayssir while meandering around Tangier.
Read moreAs a vegan, Tangier can be challenging so it was a delight to even see the word vegan on the menu.
Lots of dips, falafel, salad. Simple but amazing. Probably best falafel I've ever had.
1 euro for a delicious bowl of lentil soup. Everything so reasonably priced.
Will definitely go back.
Friendly service, social and local.

Great options - Edit
It’s a humble restaurant. My partner and I order the trio of mezes (45dhs), a plate of falafel (25dhs) and a couple of spinach borek (7dhs each). It came with a complimentary flatbread each. We enjoyed all the dishes. By general Tanger prices it’s slightly on the pricier side, but for the tourist Medina area it’s a normal price. It wasn’t the most filling meal, a little bit more bread would have been good, but it was still enjoyable and healthy. We recommend it, especially if you want a little break from Moroccan cuisine.

Good but slow - Edit
This food was really good, super cheap, but incredibly slow. Our food sat at the counter for five minutes before we were given it and we didn’t get water until our meal was given to us. If you’re happy to wait though, it’s delicious. The falafel was lush, then the dips too (it comes with bread) and vine leaf rolls.
