Disappointing Changes at Abel - Edit
1 June 2024: It’s a shame. I noticed before but hadn’t updated my review. Many vegan options have been removed from the new menu. I used to love coming here for the variety. The remaining choices are still tasty, but the club sandwich, gnocchi, and quesadillas are gone, with no vegan alternatives replacing them. Very disappointing.

We will definitely come back. Service was very friendly and helpful. Vegan options are clearly marked on the menu. Worthy of 5 stars if possible!

Ze hebben een paar vegan gerechten, staat duidelijk aangegeven wat vegan is. Ik heb dat keer voor de Poké Bowl gekozen. Was een grote porties en smaakte prima.

Het fijne was dat alle vegetarische en veganistische gerechten duidelijk stonden aangegeven op de kaart. De locatie is mooi, bediening kan op sommige punten beter. We moesten een half uur wachten voordat onze bestelling werd opgenomen. En bij het bestellen van tomatensoep zonder room, werd deze in eerste instantie met room gegeven. Hiervoor kwam zonder problemen een nieuwe tomatensoep, maar wel vervelend dat tafelgenoten al wel hun gerecht hadden.

Restaurant with country-side feel - Edit
Abel is kind of 'in the middle of nowhere', being situated in a recreational area next to the Oude Maas. That gives it a nice country-side feel in an area of the Netherlands that's highly urbanized. It's quite a big restaurant with a large and sunny terrace with a nice view of sort of a 'medium-golfcourse'. We went there on a sunny saterday and it was quite busy, but not too crowded.

Of the many options on the menu we had the vegan poké bowl and vegan chili burger. The poké bowl was very tasty, but the tempeh pieces were a bit too big to our liking and there was too much rice. The chili burger was very good, both crunchy and a bit spicy, but it doesn't deserve a 'chili' tag according to my standards of chiliness. Very proper lunch to get you through an active afternoon if you want to give the 'medium'-golf a try (or archery, football-golf, swimming, hiking, etc.).
The toilets were clean and tidy, so Abel also provides a proper facility for the outputs of fine dining. ;)
Pros: (Atmosphere of the) location, Plenty of well marked vegan options, Friendly staff
Cons: Not easily accessible by public transport, No vegan desserts or pastries

Fantastische plek met genoeg wisselende vegan opties - Edit
Het wisselt per seizoen wat voor vegan opties er zijn, maar het is altijd lekker, er zouden wel meer opties bij moeten komen en er moeten zeker vegan toetjes komen, zoals ijs of taart of gebak. Dan zou het perfect zijn.
