They have a special menu only for vegans and vegetarians. Just ask for it. It's 2 pages!
Read moreThe cauliflower tacos were a bit dry but really yum anyways. The fries though were too soft, no crunch at all.
Prices are way too high but I guess it is to be expected in a touristy area.
The service was non existent though.
However, so good to see so many vegan options in an area where seafood is like a religion.

Little gem in Howth - Edit
Happy Cow save the evening. We went there after our visit to the Island nearby, late in the evening and the Abbey Tavern happened to be open. There's a small but vegan menu which was pretty darn good. Don't miss their desserts though!

There were 4 vegan dishes on the menu and probably the best dessert I’ve ever eaten. It was Sticky Toffee Pear Pudding.

I'd definitely come back for the cauliflower wings - but not for the mains. Two of us had the vegan burger, which came with a decent enough bun and a good relish. The patty itself though was a bit undecided if it wants to be a tex-mex patty or an asian fusion patty. Both of us did not finish our burgers. The curry was OK, but it was a bowl of rice with the curry on top. Asking for having the rice in a separate bowl might be a good idea. The cauliflower wings were great though.

Hanno menu x vegano, vegetariani e senza glutine. Una completezza da lasciare senza fiato. Oltre ad essere una taverna di alto livello per offerta di ricette e servizio impeccabile. Ha anche ben 3 scelte di desserts con gelato totalmente vegani. Dato che però il locale non è fully vegan, l’app non permette di mettere 5 stelle. Ma sarebbero tutte meritate!

This traditional tavern has two separate vegetarian and vegan menus. I tried their cauliflower wings which was amazing (I think the best that I ever had), the bbq bean burger (so-so, also I think the brioche bread was not entirely vegan, it tasted quite sweet) and the sticky toffee pudding which was amazing. The whole experience was very nice, as it was the christmas season and the decoration was very eye-pleasant. Also, the staff was very attentive.

Separate, and delicious, vegan menu - Edit
Delighted to have had the pleasure of eating here. There are multiple vegan options for each course. I had the cauliflower wings to stay let and the bean burger for a main. I don’t think I’ve gone to any other restaurant anywhere near that have had such tasty options.

Read moreI had the cauliflower wings for an appetizer, curry for my main, the stick toffee pear pudding for desert finished off with an espresso. The portions were generous and presentation was nice. Really enjoyed the experience.
Will definitely be back and I highly recommend.

Read morebut here, thank the vegan lord, there were a vegan menu so it wasn't awkward at all!
Also, first and only time there was a main and a desert at the same place that I could eat (because my friends weren't too keen on all vegan restaurants so I usually just had the one vegan option the restaurant had)
All of that to say, maybe I'm bias because I felt normal for the first time in my trip but this meal was incredible.
The dessert was absolutely delicious, the fries were crispy, the burger was actually filling (compared to some veggie burgers I've had) and overall I had a great time!
Definitely would recommend !
The non vegan dishes were also amazing apparently! So I didn't feel guilty for taking my friends there :D

I ordered the vegan penne with pesto and cauliflower wings here. They were ok, it was interesting that they were using focaccia crumbs as a type of substitute for hard cheese shavings on the penne. The pesto was quite good, a really nice fresh basil taste from it. Only negative was (and it's a matter of preference), I thought the dish was a bit unnecessarily overloaded with greenery, would have liked more penne instead.
Read moreThe cauliflower bites/wings were not bad, although the sauce they were using tended to overpower the entire thing. Maybe this would be better served as an optional dip.
Note: You have to ask for a separate veg. menu, the main menu might just have one or two suitable items.
One annoying thing is having parmesan on a vegetarian menu. If you're going to do this, please make it clear if it's a vegetarian parmesan-style substitute as standard parmesan is not vegetarian (at least in the EU). There are other Italian style hard cheeses which use vegetarian rennet, or just use a vegan substitute.
