Serves meat, vegan options available. Best Western/Meridian hotel restaurant with marked vegetarian choices, and staff will check which of these are suitable for vegans. Sample dishes such as aloo gobi matter (potatoes, peas, cauliflower with onions in tomato gravy), yellow dal, and farmhouse mixed vegetables with noodles in soy sauce. Salad is served with dinner. Reported closed September 2024.

Really great place with lot of choices

I was staying four nights at the Best Western Plus Meridian in Nairobi, Kenya. Before coming to Kenya, I had no idea how well they know vegetarian things. I was really happy to notice that restaurang, A Rendez-Vous Nairobi, that is on it this three star (I would say even four star) hotel, had in menu well marked vegetarian choices and things that they include. Also waitress confirmed from chef which are vegan options. They do include 1) Aloo Gobi Matter (potatoes, fresh green peas and cauliflower cooked with onions in a tomato gravy), 2) Yellow Dal (yellow lentils cooked and tempered with cumin seeds, garlic, onion, tomato and a touch of shredder ginger) and Farmhouse Mixed Vegetables (noodles with juliennes of fresh spring farmhouse vegetables, fried in a dash of sesame oil, onions and soy sauce). Those choices were 1000-1200 Kenyan shillings that is 8,9-10,63 euroa.

Some lacto-ovo vegetarian choices has cheece, butter and/or yoghurt. I really liked Palat Paneer that included home made cottage cheece in a rich spinach sauce with a touch of Indian spices. It had topped with youghurt. You got to choice it as mild, medium or hot. Meal included salad (red onion, tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber).
In my third night here I decided to buy buffet and I was so, so happy to see that 9 choices of 11 hot dishes were vegetarian. They confirmed those and if I would had asked, waitress and chef would had probably said which are also vegan.

So I feel this is four star hotel. Restaurang also look like that. All people in staff treated "rock man" really friendly and down-to-earth way. And they looked after customers if they needed something. People in staff were also really smily, so I felt really happy of being customer at the A Rendez-Vous Nairobi.

Pros: Lot of choices, Good value (many meals are 8,5-11 euros)., Friendly staff who looks well after customers
