Over the years this place attempt to be all-veg then not and then yes again per latest report 2015. Small setting with several tables so better to make a reservation; gets crowded. Offers an array of vegan dishes. Menu changes daily. Open Tue-Sun 12:00-15:00, 19:30-22:00.

Good but not great

The service was very friendly, the place looks nice, and the atmosphere was nice and chill. However, the food wasn't special (tho nothing to complain about).

Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Looks of the place

Cons: Plain food, A bit pricey, Desert

Nice atmosphere

Small place on medium crowded street. Serves great Italian food. Most of the dishes on the menu are vegan the rest are vegetarian. The staff are really helpful and friendly. A little bit pricey but totally worth it.

Pros: Great Italian food, Good location

Cons: Expensive

Not the best, and manager mansplained...

I specifically walked about 2klm to try this place, and only had a brief time for a meal (before a show). The staff were very friendly and welcoming and let me sit down and wait the 15 or so minutes until 730pm when the restaurant re-opened for dinner.

The menu (Italian, with accompanying English explanatory sheet) looked interesting, with a vegan entree, two insaladas and several vegan mains (pasta, aromatic rice or warm salad cooked in vinegar).

I chose a salad and the pasta - described by friendly staff as with pumpkin, aubergine, broccoli, garlic and hot peppers. The waiter said the salad would come first and I said something along the lines “oh, together is ok I have to go soon”.

The salad was ok - garden salad with some scant sesame and pumpkin seeds. Then the pasta - picture attached in pic section - plain rigatoni with a clear liquid (reduced stock) and a couple small pieces of broccoli. Nothing else. It was....plain. I ate some pasta and salad, and then asked for the bill. I asked for take away (so as to not offend!), and the waiter obligingly wrapped the meal.

For payment, the owner came to my table. He asked where I was from, and then told me that if I come to a different country I should eat things the way they do. That I should not have had the pasta and salad at the same time. An Italian would never have done that and Italians invented pasta and live with it every day. He said I was wrong to do what I did. I was embarrassed and quite shocked. I apologised and said I had only a brief time. He kept going on about it, and a woman (his wife?) came up and smilingly tried to stop him. He relented a bit and said I could have been his daughter (ie trying to educate me?). I told him, politely, I am forty. He seemed shocked by that....

Anyway, I ended up paying 28 euros for glass of wine, salad and very, very plain pasta which was not as described and then being told off like a child for daring to have it at the same time as the salad. I do appreciate this wasn’t the traditional way perhaps (which I ALWAYS try to stick to whenever I travel, which is often...). It wasn’t a very pleasant experience - most bland and disappointing food I’ve had this whole trip. Would have very happily let it slide but the unnecessary condescending dressing down made the whole experience a waste of $45 and my time.

Overall, left of an unpleasant taste (actually and metaphorically...). Everyone else there was lovely.

Pros: Nice setting, tiny and cosy , Staff very friendly and helpful , Service was prompt, polite and friendly

Cons: Far too expensive for what it was , Manager / owner condescending and rude , The two items I had were very plain

Lovely little restaurant

This is a lovely little vegetarian restaurant to the south of the river, not far from Ponte Vecchio.

It is vegetarian, with vegan options clearly marked. A glossary in English is available, and the staff are very helpful with any queries.

The food was very tasty and good quality, with local dishes. Not the cheapest place to eat, but well worth it.

It is small and busy, so best to book a table.

Recommended.

Pros: Vegan options; excellent food; helpful staff

Cons: Small; not cheap, but worth it

clearly labeled vegan options

Authentic regional cuisine in a cute old school style Italian cafe. Menu clearly labels vegan dishes and staff was helpful explaining. They even have an English glossary to help translate. Pasta and risotto were great!

Pros: nice location near Boboli Garden

Cons: prices a bit higher than other veg places in town

Friendly staff and fantastic food

Went to this restaurant several times during my trip to Florence - it’s open for lunch and dinner. Plenty of vegan options and ALL vegetarian. They have a different menu every day which is nice. All of the food is interesting (rather than some of the nice but basic veggie food you might get elsewhere), especially the puddings!! Staff really friendly and accommodating. It’s relatively small and can get quite busy - we never had a problem getting a table but might be best to book if you’re set on this place!

Pros: Plenty of vegan options, Variety of dishes , Friendly, cosy restaurant

Beautiful food

Loved this little vege restaurant. My boyfriend and I each had the truffle pesto pasta (which was recommended to us) and it was delicious. We also shared a salad to begin with (as the maître d assured us that Italians do not have salad as a side with their pasta). Everything was really fresh and the staff were super helpful explaining the menu in English.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Hilarious maître d with great stories , delicious food for a reasonable price

Fantastic family-run vegetarian place

This little gem is off the beaten path but so worth hunting down. It's owned by one family who does everything from waiting tables to cooking the delicious, fresh food. I'm vegan but my husband is not so I love finding places where we both are happy. The menu is written in Italian only but they will give you a cheat sheet & translate everything at the table. We started with the chickpea flour bread/pizza - so good. Then I had the saffron risotto & hubby had the ravioli - both delicious. Then there was the dessert - ahhh, what can I say? Almond milk panna cotta covered in chocolate - beyond words! If you're in Florence, go here!

Pros: all vegetarian/vegan, delicious, fresh food, friendly family-owned

Cons: menu only written in Italian

Small cafe, nice service

We came here for lunch on a Tuesday around 13:30 and they were out of most of the vegan options listed on the menu. The gentleman who served us told us he would make us a vegan pasta. It was spaghetti marinara which was nice. Cute, cozy atmosphere.

Pros: Nice service

Cons: Limited vegan options

Dissapointed

The service was nice. The food good, not great. The portions very small and in my opinion overpriced. It suppose they use just organic products, but I still found it expensive. We paid more than 50€ for two plates, one dessert, one bottle of water and two beers.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, clearly marked, Friendly staff

Cons: Expensive, Small portions

Good Vegan Options

Visited last week. I think about 40% of the menu was vegan and few more things could be made vegan. The menu is in Italian only staff can speak English if you need. We both had some farinata for starter, basmati rice with veggies as a main, and an almond milk dessert with dark chocolate. Portion sizes seemed about right, and the food was tasty. The only thing I wish I had checked was the water bottle, as I opened and poured it without checking the seal, and I'm not sure if it was new because it look reused and didn't taste like a new bottle of the same brand I'd had earlier in the week.

Pros: Good vegan options, Very nice cosy and intimate atmosphere

Make a reservation

We tried to get a table last night (a Friday evening) without booking but they couldn't accommodate us so we made a booking for tonight. Menu is in Italian but most of the friendly and knowledgable staff speak excellent English and explain the menu to each table of English speaking diners. Fairly small restuarant and very busy. Menu is constantly changing and tonight approx half the menu was vegan and a couple of the other dishes could be made vegan if required. Our dishes were all light, fresh and delicious. Moderately priced for two people, three courses each and one drink each the total cost was €51 which I consider good value for money in a place of this quality.

Pros: Everything made on site from mostly local and ofte

Cons: Pays to reserve a table which is easy enough even

Mixed feelings

Cosy restaurant with nice interior. simple menu with vegan options

I chose two vegan meals:
1. "linguine al pate di olive taggiasche, aglio, peperoncino e pomodori"- linguine with olive and garlic sauce, paprika and tomatoes. It came quite undercooked ( not just al dente), but not spicy because I asked for it. When I asked them to re-do it and cook properly they brought it way over cooked ( it took them very long time) and extremely spicy ( even though I asked again for not spicy at all).
2. "insalata di stagione" - season salad. It contained just cucumbers, lettuce and tomatoes and was a bit overpriced (6,5 euros) considering quite a small portion.

On the other hand, my partner chose vegetarian options: "cecina con stracchino" ( chickpea flatbread with a type of cheese looking like mozzarella ) and "crocchette di ceci con verdure saltate e salsa di yogurt alla menta" (chickpea croquette with sautéed mixed veggies side and mint yogurt served in a separate bowl). He liked both and they were filling enough. Second dish is vegan if not eaten with yogurt, and is very delicious!

Pros: Friendly staff

Cons: Menu is only in Italian

Worth a Visit!

I was in search of veg/vegan options while in Florence and came across 5 e cinque while walking the streets.

I'm really glad I found my way inside! Pleasant staff that helped with any English translations, flavorful food, and a nice setting.

The menu is small and simple, which I often prefer. Food were a little smaller but still big on flavor (veggie couscous was so comforting). I was a little disappointed with the wine selections but I fully away that's just a matter of my own personal tastes (wish they offered a more full bodied red).

I'd definitely recommend!

Pros: good food, quiet setting, polite staff

Cons: not my favorite wine selection

Tasty, fresh food & friendly service!

After reading that this was a small restaurant, which required reservations, I wasn't holding out much hope getting a seat. We were given a table straight away though, and the service was excellent (staff were happy to explain anything we didn't understand on the menu, in English)! The location was nice too (we sat outside so could watch the goings on in the small, but busy piazza nearby). There were some decent vegan food options for me, and the portions were slightly larger than some of the other places we've been to (which was great because we were hungry!). Overall, a very pleasant experience.

Pros: friendly, tasty food, nice location
