I thought Wilmington was really vegan-friendly when I went in 2019, so much more than I was used to, and I left thinking that might be a place for me to relocate. Some of the options there have changed, of course, but (for not being a major urban area) it's still pretty good. As for Panacea, well... If they'd been omnivore from the beginning but legit vegan-friendly (might seem weird but) that's just so much better than claiming "everything is vegan" and building on the vegan community, then starting to serve animal products again. Being a business-minded person myself, and having seen this same situation (excuse, reason) happen many times, I just doubt this was ncessary and/or the best solution.
