Maybe you’ll like the food more than me! They change their menu frequently and I suspect summer is the best time to go. Definitely leave a review if you go because this place needs a second opinion. My boyfriend says I have high expectations for a vegan, so maybe that’s it. 😂 I was excited because I thought “FINALLY. A fancy sit-down restaurant for vegans in Sacramento. Perfect for nights out and anniversaries.” 😒 I look back at the photos of the four courses and I think “I’m not irrational. This isn’t worth $135”. I’ve seen how beautiful the dishes here can be and I only saw that with the wild mushroom bruschetta. On Yelp, I see the Torta Al Cioccolato has, in addition to what you see in my photo, halved baby plums, what appears to be cake, a big squiggle of cherry meringue, and micro greens. That can be veganized without sacrificing complexity. Also, the vegan fettuccine uses tomato sauce 😑 I am tired of having to settle for tomato sauce when eating out. Given the right ingredients, I bet these chefs have the skillset to make a delicious creamy vegan sauce and, instead of salty olives, done something with hearts of palm to replace lobster. Otherwise, I can made the pasta dish better at home. Furthermore, the risotto needed to be cooked longer or have something done to it to be creamier. It was like eating regular rice with mushrooms and olive oil. It didn’t taste bad, but it wasn’t satisfying. On Yelp, the non-vegan risotto uses parmesan broth, parmesan crisp on top, and shaved black truffles. That can also be veganized! Vegan parm exists y’all 😔 I understand vegans are rare and vegan alternatives may not be readily available, but is it wrong to expect something similarly as unique, complex, and/or not easily attainable given the price? It’s things like that make me wish I can make my own bougie vegan restaurant and do vegan food justice.
