Although I’ve lived in Los Angeles for over two years, SunCafe is a recent discovery for me. The first time I visited the restaurant was to meet a friend for a quick lunch, so I was expecting a small vegan fast food joint. Upon arrival, however, I realized that I had been way off the mark. From the decor to the service to the food…the entire experience was first rate!
I absolutely love the look and feel of SunCafe. The outdoor space is so luxurious and inviting, complete with a fire pit to sit around on those colder evenings.
Inside is just as nice, with gorgeous furniture and fixtures that create a warm, rustic feel. And to top it off, the staff treat you like you’re royalty.
I had such a great time during my first visit to SunCafe that I was super excited to visit again with some friends for New Year’s Eve. It was an absolutely lovely evening, so I wanted to share some pics of the fantastic food we enjoyed!
There was a special New Year’s Even Tasting Menu available that night. I didn’t get it, but as I saw each plate being brought out to my friends who did order it, I was quick to regret my decision! Here’s the full menu from start to finish:
Doesn’t all of that look amazing? So while I was a bit sad that I didn’t order the New Year’s menu for myself, I absolutely loved what I ordered – French Onion Soup, a BLT with mashed potatoes, and chocolate cupcakes. First of all, I’ve never had vegan French Onion Soup at a restaurant…that was just the coolest experience to be able to order that! The BLT was so good, and it gets an extra point from me because it didn’t fall to pieces, which happens so often when I order sandwiches elsewhere. The mashed potatoes with gravy and the cupcakes rounded out my comfort food dinner perfectly.
Overall, this was a fantastic night out with friends, enjoying amazing food in a great atmosphere. We also chatted with the owner, Ron, for a few minutes. He really makes an effort to ensure his guests are taken care of. Thanks Ron!
After two great experiences at SunCafe in a row, I can confidently say that I’ll be visiting more often. Next time I plan on sitting out by the fire pit and enjoying one of their vegan hot chocolates! If you happen to be in Los Angeles, I highly recommend giving this place a try!
