Plant-Based Dog Treats to Buy for Your Furry Friends

We all love our furry friends. Just one wag of their tail or sloppy kiss on the cheek, and our entire day is made! And when it comes time to reward them for good behavior, or to show them how much we love them, we want to be able to give them a treat we can feel good about. That’s why we at HappyCow have put together a list of some of our favorite cruelty-free, plant-based dog treats for your best friend! Check them out below.

1. Wild Earth

Superfood Dog Treats

Wild Earth sells superfood dog treats made with koji, a mushroom superfood with tons of nutritional benefits and rich umami flavors. Their approach to making treats is sustainable, using 90% fewer resources than meat-based treats. Wild Earth treats have omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids and prebiotics to support a healthy gut, and currently come in three delicious flavors: strawberry beet, peanut butter, and banana cinnamon. Plus, each treat comes with all 10 essential amino acids your dog needs.

2. V-Dog

Breath Bones and Wiggle Biscuits

V-Dog carries “Breath Bones” and “Wiggle Biscuits,” cruelty-free plant-based dog treats that are superfood-based and free of corn, soy, and wheat. They are made with good ingredients you can pronounce, like chia seeds, flax seed, banana, and coconut flakes. V-Dog focuses on adding fruits and veggies to each treat for the nutrient boost your pup needs—in a flavor they will love. The Wiggle Biscuits come in two flavors, blueberry or peanut butter, and are even “picky pup approved” for the more discerning pooch.

3. Riley’s Organics

Small and Large Bone Baked Biscuits

While not every option on their menu is vegan, Riley’s Organics offers a few standout, cruelty-free and organic dog treats. Their small and large bone baked biscuits come in these flavors: peanut butter and molasses, pumpkin and coconut, apple, and sweet potato. Each treat is made with ingredients you recognise, and helps your dog be their healthiest self. Best of all—for each treat you purchase, five meals will be donated to shelter dogs.

4. Halo

Vegan Treat, Kibble, and Wet Food

Halo aims to “take the uncertainty out of what you feed your pet,” and has designed their website so that it’s easy to find their current vegan options for dog treats. Their current dog biscuit treats are made with real pumpkin and peanut butter, along with other plant-based power foods like peas, chickpeas, tomatoes, apples, and sweet potatoes. If your dog enjoys their treats, you can even try halo’s vegan-friendly kibble and wet food options.

5. Bright Planet

Vegan Chicken, Bacon, and Beef Dog Treats

Bright Planet is a woman-owned company that makes plant-based dog treats that taste just like the real thing. Free of corn, soy, wheat, and peas, they come in familiar meat flavors like chicken, bacon, and beef—minus the cruelty. Bright Planet is committed to sustainability, and donates to the Eden Reforestation Projects to plant one tree with every purchase. They are also currently transitioning into a store drop-off recyclable bag and fully recyclable packaging materials.

6. Front Porch Pets

Sam’s Yams

Front Porch Pets is the home of Sam’s Yams—the original sweet potato dog chew. They dehydrate their plant-based jerky low and slow, preserving the nutrition and beautiful colors of the sweet potato. In addition to their signature sweet potato flavor, they also offer pumpkin, strawberry banana, and sweet potato with garden greens. Front Porch Pets is committed to the dental health of dogs, and produces most of their ingredients directly in their own garden and greenhouse.
