Vegan Dog Cookies With Love

Vegan Dog Treat RecipeIt’s late afternoon, I finally have some time…….
Not doing it now, would really be a crime.
So out come the trays and the bone cookie cutter…..
I don’t even call their names, nor a sound do I utter.
Next comes the peanut butter, oats and the flour……
The whole endeavor, takes less than an hour.
So I mix and I knead…..I know they’re going to love em’…….
Then I roll and I cut and I pop them in the oven.
The wonderful smells, permeate my home-ah……….
Now even the bedrooms, have the aroma.
I take them out of the oven, they look pretty bitchin’…..
Then come the sounds of their paws, into the kitchen.
I look at their eyes, so intent on the pans………
Then they check to see, what I have in my hands.
I have vegan dog cookies, no they’re not Chips Ahoy………
It’s a thank you to them… for they bring me such joy.

I love to rhyme! Although you probably already figured that out, if you just read that poem. I’ve been doing rhymes for years. Family and friends know that when they call my house, they are going to get a rhyme on my answering machine…usually in the voice of one of my dogs. Yes, you heard that right. No, my dogs don’t really talk. But you can say I channel their personalities through my vocal cords. I once had a credit card company representative call my answering machine several times in a row, just so his co-workers could hear the rhyme that my “dog” left on the outgoing message!

Vegan Dog Treat RecipeDogs have given me so much joy over the years. They have truly been my saving grace at times, as well as my best friend(s) ALL of the time. That’s why I started making homemade cookies for them. As a thank you for everything they have given me. And I don’t know what it is, but my dogs KNOW when I am making their cookies, compared to when I am making MY cookies. Not that I mind sharing my regular cookies…because I do…but they want their OWN! I know all about how their sense of smell is so superior to ours, but can’t quite figure out how they know I’m making their cookies. Without fail, when I start a batch, my dogs all come running. They usually lay down in the kitchen, right before the cookies are removed from the oven. Then they do their best at looking pitiful and starving, while the cookies are cooling down. It doesn’t matter to me how they know, only that they know how much I love them. By the way, these cookies are not only for your dogs. My husband loves, them, too.
