Is your child vegan and you can’t seem to think of any good snack ideas to pack in their lunch? It’s no surprise that sometimes being vegan can be a bit tricky, especially for younger children who are constantly being exposed to candy, chips and cookies. Although most snacks that are marketed towards kids are not usually vegan, there are many tasty options that are vegan, healthy, delicious and won’t have your child feeling left out.
If you have run out of ideas, here is a list of great snack ideas to pack for your child’s lunch:
1. Apples with peanut butter
Kids love peanut butter and it’s a great way to get more fruit into their diet. Put some peanut butter in a container along with an apple for a perfect healthy treat.
2. Soy or coconut yogurt
Although vegan children can’t have regular yogurt, they can have either soy or coconut yogurt. Both are nutritious and taste just as good as regular yogurt!
3. Hummus with pretzels
Some stores sell snack combinations of hummus and pretzels. This is a great and healthy alternative to potato chips and dip!
4. Dates
Dates are loaded with fiber and on the sweeter side, perfect for kids!
5. Almond butter
Stores now sell almond butter in single serving packages which is a great and convenient option for a kid’s snack.
6. Homemade trail mix
Mixing together raisins, cranberries, nuts, non dairy chocolate chips and anything else you’d like is a great grab and go snack choice for kids.
7. Dried fruit
Dried fruit has become a very popular item and of course is completely vegan! Mangoes, pineapples, apples are a few fruit flavors that are popular for kids.
