Lima, Peru is gorgeous. Situated right by the ocean, you can find yourself in the bustling city center one minute and walking along sky high sea cliffs the next, observing hundreds of paragliders soaring above as they fly by, often a little bit too close for comfort.
However, what I didn’t expect to find in downtown Lima was a hip vegan restaurant serving up some of the best food that I have ever tasted in my entire life. But hey, travel is full of surprises.
I was lucky enough to take some photos for Seitan Urban Bistro twice during my short stay in Lima. Each time, I was positively blown away by the creativity of the dishes and the massively pleasing flavors that accompanied them.
The restaurant is family owned and holds great vegan specials each week such as Vegan Maki Night or all-you-can eat slider night. Yes, apparently that’s a thing. We are evolving.
While I was there, I got to kick back with the owners on the outside terrace, drink Peruvian wine, and watch the team whip up absolute masterpieces in the kitchen.
A trained French-cuisine chef, Santiago is the son of the family and runs a tight ship that churns out nothing but pure culinary gold. My favorite plates were their quinoa burger topped with a white mushroom sauce and the Makis that they’re creating are out of this world.
If you’re on the fence about visiting Lima, know that it’s a safe and modern city that offers beautiful ocean views mixed with bustling city vibes. Oh yeah, they’ve also got some of the best vegan food known to man, in case you needed a little bit of extra encouragement. I’ll see you there 😉
