5 Fun Almond Milk Recipes To Try At Home

Did you know? Plant-based milk now occupies over 10% of the total milk market, with almond milk being the most popular choice. There’s something really therapeutic about making your own homemade almond milk. Not to mention, it’s healthier, easier on the pocket, and even tastes better! Whether you’re someone who loves making homemade nut milks or someone who has never tried, you’ll enjoy these fun and simple almond milk recipes.

But first, let’s start with the basics!

Homemade Almond Milk

By TeamCow Serves: This makes approx. 750ml
Prep Time: 10 minutes

Use this as a base recipe. Once it's ready, you can flavour it as you like!

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup of almonds
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil (optional)

Instructions

1

Soak the almonds in a cup of filtered water overnight

2

The next morning, drain out the soaking water, rinse the soaked almonds, and add them to your blender jar

3

Adding ½ cup of water to begin with, pulse the nuts real quick so that they break up and form a paste. (If using a high speed blender, just add the 3 cups of water at once).

4

Add the remaining water with a pinch of salt and blend on the highest speed until it's thoroughly blended.

5

Optionally, stream in a tbsp of coconut oil as it’s blending. This naturally emulsifies it, giving it an even more “milky” consistency.

6

If you don’t have a nut milk bag, simply line a large vessel with a cheesecloth, and carefully strain the milk through it. Do this by carefully gathering all the ends of the cloth and grasping it tightly around the edges, twisting firmly so there's no leakage.

7

Squeeze all the milk out and save the remaining pulp! You can use it to make cookies, or add it to your oatmeal.
