Below are four of my favourite places to eat in Stockholm. These places all offer extraordinary vegan food experiences in their own way. For the vegan foodie, these restaurants will add that extra something to your trip to Stockholm and they are all very unique, from setting to the actual food.
Växthuset – Vegan Fine Dining At It’s Best
This is elegant fine dining in a very Nordic-cool setting. A perfect night out if you want to invest in a night with pure plant-based textures, tastes and non-traditional combinations. This is a definite must try. Getting there is quite an adventure to. The restaurant is located in a eclectic house under a bridge. Since the menu changes seasonally (they use locally produced ingredients), the menu will vary. However, it’s so worth it. I had a starter consisting of a black root soup with pine oil and fermented garlic that was just out of this world. So don’t be put off by the somewhat strange ingredients and combinations of them. You’ll love it.
Kalf & Hansen – Nordic Fast Food
This is Nordic fast food as it’s best and it’s probably the only restaurant offering this in Stockholm. They use typical Swedish ingredients and they make magic. The vegan frikadellen are just so good. The food is hearty and fresh at the same time. This will be a food experience as no other if you want to try Nordic food.
Omnipollos Hatt – Hipster Pizza
This place is in the very popular south part of the city and brews their own beer and makes pizza. They have one vegan option on the menu. The first time I went there I was a bit skeptical, because the flavour combinations where not what I would ordinarily get. But it was mind-blowingly good. Muhammara, dates and different tomatoes create this unique flavour combination, and it is a must try. Get there early though, because this place is popular.
Minh Mat – Vietnamese magic
This Vietnamese restaurant has become one of my favourites in Stockholm. The quality of the food is outstanding with plenty of vegan options. They have fresh herbs that I’ve never heard of and their dishes are both beautiful and delicious. For being a restaurant in Stockholm, the prices are very reasonable.
If you have already tried one of these places or when you do, do let me know what you thought in the comments below. I’d love to hear your experience about them.
