Amazimg South Indian Fusion - Edit
A spectacular almost fully vegan fusion restaurant where south Indian cuisine meets the rest of the world. The cute aesthetics and amazing customer service of the staff make the atmosphere a comfortable and more than pleasant place to eat.
Read moreThe ethos of wanting to show people how much more delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes can be when compared to animal based dishes, is reflected in the fantastic taste of the food.
The Green Eatery's values truly resonates in the taste of the dishes and I strongly recommend anyone who is vegan, thinking of going vegan or just wanting to try something different to eat here.
I personally recommend:
- Naga Chillie Sauce (hottest) = This flavourful sauce will certainly wake you up, while still tempting you to go for another dip
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Large Portions , Brilliant Staff

My Indian food obsession - Edit
I've now introduced Namaste to several of my friends (veg and non veg) and have tried a significant amount of the menu. All my friends rave about this place and have been regulars ever since. Every time I order I try something new and each time I am pleasantly surprised by how different and flavourful each dish is. You can tell a lot of care has gone into the dishes. The dishes are always consistently of a good quality. My star dishes are: the cauliflower gobi (can be made hot, you wont regret it) is deliciously crispy and sticky sweet, the samosa and the onion bhaji are tasty and crunchy without being greasy, vegan vegetable korma is very rich, chana masala is refreshing, creamy and delicious and the Makhani Daal has a rich mildly spiced thick gravy that I go crazy for. You would be crazy to miss out on their traditional naan breads. My favourite being the Gujwari Naan. The waiters are very friendly and helpful, I've never had bad service. The building itself feels like you have stepped into India. I would definitely recommend.

Excellent Massala Dosa - Edit
Having lived for 15 years near the excellent vegetarian Indian restaurants in Bradford & Leeds I have been a bit spoilt for choice, but Namaste is every bit as good. As we were just visiting Norwich for the day, we went for our number 1 favorite, the Massala Dosa, which I would definitely recommend.

Tasty but a little overpriced - Edit
I'd walked passed before but never gone in because it doesn't look like much and it was pretty empty. But I tried it having seen the reviews here and enjoyed my food. I had a dosa and samosa and they were what you'd expect- Indian basics done well. The menu offers plenty of vegan options and a good few of them are things that you rarely see a vegan version of. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. It does seem a little expensive for what it is but they do offers on their website which are worth looking at.

I can’t believe I have lived in Norwich all my life and never tried this. Most of the menu is vegan friendly and there’s also plenty of vegetarian. It’s cash only so watch out because with credit card you have absolutely no way of paying and they don’t tell you about this when they greet you plus no signs.

Authentic food and great staff - Edit
Really great selection of both vegan and gluten free dishes and most vegetarian dishes can be made vegan also, with an extra charge. The chutneys which came with the popodums were home made and really good, especially the tamarind chutney which made a nice change from the usual mango chutney served. All the dishes my partner and I had were of good quality and were a generous portion. I was especially impressed by the vegan mango lassi which the waitress had written vegan on top of and drawn a little heart. Great food and great touches by the staff. Woul recommend to all, just be sure to have cash on you as they werent accepting cards when we went!

Friendly and authentic - Edit
Very tasty food, the staff are very friendly and the service is relaxed. Very accommodating for fussy eaters (such as myself). The samosas are my favourite thing ever. Plus they have a stall at UEA which is great! It does get busy, so feel free to book.

Delicious Vegetarian Indian Food - Edit
A great selection of dishes to choose from (a very rare experience for vegetarians!!). Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and flavourful - there wasn't a weak dish among them. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and the food came relatively quickly. We would love to go again next time we're in Norwich.

Good but pricey - Edit
Decent curry house, enjoyed it, but expensive for what it is. Main courses are £10 and then they want £4 more for rice. Starter and main for two with no alcohol was £40. Fairly outrageous for a curry house.

Authentic food, full of flavour. The most unpretentious vegetarian place I have been to in the UK- very chilled, and very good at what they do. Not rushed, and quality comes above everything else.

Amazing food and friendly service. So good I went back twice in two days whilst staying in Norwich. All the vegan dishes are clearly marked and there's lots to choose from. Both the dosa and the pav bhaji were delicious and the ringan (aubergine) pakoras I could eat all day. So good.

Friendly and feels authentic - Edit
This wouldn't be for everybody. You need to have some patience for its rough edges, which include a slight shabbiness of decor and less than slick service. But it also has a charm to it, an authentic feel to some surprisingly good food. We were the first to arrive on a snowy lunchtime and, having removed our body warmers, soon put them back on again because the restaurant was distinctly chilly, despite the efforts of a portable heater. Our waiter, however, couldn't have been more charming. We joked that we were surprised he didn't have the cricket on (India were playing England in one-dayer) and he dashed off to set up a laptop with a live TV stream from Kochi on the bar for us. He was very good at explaining what was what on the menu and at determining exactly what our tastes were before making recommendations. Our starters consisted of home made samosas and a chat, both of which were excellent - the only problem being that they came about 10 minutes apart, which turned out not to be a problem as we shared them. The main courses, which were served with roti as well as rice, arrived before the drinks, but both beverages and food were very tasty and, though proportions were not huge, we were too full to try their sweets. The waiter was so friendly and enthusiastic for the food, which was good with a rustic, authentic Indian feel to it, that we found it easy to forgive the rough edges.

So disappointing! - Edit
We were really looking forward to trying this new arrival in Norwich, having found a taste for Southern Indian food in speciality restaurants in London. We turned up for lunch but were not offered the specials lunch menu but this didn't matter as we fancied the full menu anyway.
Read moreService was slow which might be a problem for lunchtime trade and decor a bit shabby which wasn't a big problem either,
We had onion bhajis and aubergine fritters to start. Bhajis were a few flabby onion rings and the aubergine fritters were better but not by much. At £5 each these were stupidly overpriced and inadequate; best avoided. Mains were a masala dosa and a chick pea dhal (the other dish we wanted was not available at lunchtime. The dosa was good and the daal OK but small portions and well overpriced.
Overall very sad as it could and should have been so much better
Pros: menu sounds good in theory, nice to have new veggie restaurant, dosas tasty
Cons: overpriced, average quality, small portions
