Wonderful friendly service and even more amazing food

Such a fantastic idea of a selection of vegan curries or salad tucked away from the tourists and the best best value for money food in New South Wakes or Queensland! Highly recommended.

Hidden Treasure

Finding Heart and Halo is the biggest challenge... luckily there is a bit of parking just outside. I always get a bit excited about going to Heart and Halo, maybe it is their food, or maybe it is the chia seed drink...
Heart and Halo food is nourishing and comforting, but not too stodgy or oily. My partner will usually order a plate of hot food (curry, dahl, rice, vegies) and I order the salads. We share our dishes and are more than satisfied after a meal. They also make a mint and chia seed drink, which is incredibly simple, but so refreshing to drink.
Although the decor is simple, a little cafeteria style, it is always relaxing to enjoy a nice meal at H &H.

Pros: Reasonable price, Comfort food, Located away from the crowds

Cons: Obscure location, Cash only

Reasonable food, uninspiring location

This is another Krsna, or Krsna-inspired place that doesn't have the greatest location.

You have to go around the corner of the building frontage and find it in a cordoned off area at the back.

I had a selection of all their vegan hot food. Most food there was vegan and largely up to the good standards you find in Krsna places - though i had a few hard pieces of broccoli in one curry.

I also had a cola made with their own spicy cola mix. It was nice, but a bit too spicy (gingery?) for me.

I visited recently on a hot evening, and the small kitchen there seemed like it was even hotter.

Apart from a couple of guys who were sitting and talking, not eating, i was the only one in the seating area outside. A few people came in and got takeaways.

Reason? I'm guessing it's because there's not much of a view, apart from the shop and the people that walk in and out, and it's not that pleasant in hot weather.

The guy who served me was friendly, but the only one taking orders, so if a few more people came along, service would have been pretty slow.

All in all, you can get some good, satisfying food here, but don't expect much else.

Very yummy food.

I had a pumpkin vegetable stack and it was fantastic for an extremely reasonable price. The lady that served me was really friendly and the chef doing the cooking was just as nice. I had what I call a roasted vegetable stack on a pizza base...so it was a combination of two of my favourite meals (veggie stack and pizza). Yummiest thing I've eaten on my holiday. Love the little cafe hidden away down a quieter street away from the hoards of people which made it an even more enjoyable experience.

Amazing Indian Style Vegan Cuisine.

They had 3 vegan curry type dishes while I was there, They were all incredible.

Decently priced at 14$ for the medium sized dish, that size was pretty filling for a big guy like myself.

The other place like this called cardomon pod is good also but I prefer Heart and Halo. Also this place is under a good quality hotel. The hotel is also round the corner from Naked Treaties.

Pros: Taste, Portion Size

Makes the hassles of Byron worthwhile...

Great food, great staff. This little place is tucked away in a side street but certainly worth checking out. For someone like me who travels this vast county a lot, this is one of the gems.
Vegetarian, vegan, cooked, raw, and a wide range of drinks; this place has it all. Everything has been well thought out right down to the environmental aspects of the plates and cups used.
The young woman who serves behind the counter is one of the friendliest people I've met (April, 2013).

Cute place worth finding!

We loved it here- it was right across the street from our hostel, tucked down a quiet alley in relaxing surroundings. The guys there were so friendly and explained everything to us, what was veggie & vegan and what ingredients were in the curries (like what veggies.
You paid depending on what plate size you wanted (I think $8 for the photo I've uploaded) and you pick what you want from the buffet. I think there were also some other set price foods but we just got the buffet plate, it was always delicious and more than enough for us :)

There are so so many options in Byron Bay, this town is a haven for vegans & veggies, but Heart & Halo is definitely worth at least 1 meal whilst you're in town.

Pros: super friendly, fair pricing, great atmosphere & food

Cons: may be hard to find, Closes slightly early, around 7 or 8pm

Beautiful place

This place is definitely worth visiting. The portions are generous and the prices are more than reasonable.

The owner/cook/server is one of the nicest guys. Despite how busy he is, he always manages to smile and have a friendly word with everyone who comes through. And an occasional hug as is the norm in Byron :P

Good food

Lots of vegan options, I had a bowl with curry and a few different salads on top. Followed by a raw chocolate ball. Delicious. Not the most atmospheric place but it's a lot cheaper than the other veggie cafes I went to in the area. It's set back from the street so no people watching, bring a mate or a book, there are also a few magazines and papers about.

Pros: Good vegan options

Too amazing!

When I used to live in Byron Shire, this was the place I would always rush home from wherever I was to get to!
Now I'm living overseas, and I miss it so much I had to find it to write a review.
Everyday there is different Vegetarian mostly Vegan dishes to choose from, which I often finding myself trying a bit of everything.
It doesn't stop there, once you get past trying the array of delicious hot dishes & amazing salads, you have a large selection of deserts and cookies/sweet treats to choose from. Then there are the best chai and lassi's I have experienced in my life so far. There is way too much for me to even write about this place. It is probs my main attraction in the town of Byron Bay. MUST SEE!!

Pros: Amazing selections, Healthy, Inexpensive

Cons: None.

Wonderful Vibes

Heart & Halo is a wonderful, quiet place with very friendly & helpful staff and great food. They always have plenty of vegan choices, including curries, dahl, fresh rice-paper rolls, salad with tahini dressing, etc. All the food is reasonably priced and great value. :-)

Best food in Byron Bay

This fantastic cafe is now in Byron Bay, but the operators are too busy making incredibly delicious food to update the address I think! It is on Middleton St behind the Budget Motel. Every single thing we had on our two visits here was scrumptious. The food is fresh and healthy and the vibe is really friendly. Check out their website for photos of the beautiful food and lovely owners. I think we will be having a lot more holidays in Byron from now on!

Pros: Friendliness and welcome from owners, The food

Cons: None
