Needs reservation at least 3 days in advance except in tourist season of cherry blossoms (April and May) but best to call ahead. Reported closed March 2024.

Vegan jewel in Mt. Yoshino! - Edit
I strongly recommend to go visit Yoshino mountain, even when it's not cherry blossom seasons, this place is so sacred and spiritual, and it's only about 2 hours from downtown Osaka, taking express from Kintetsu Abeno station. And if you can go here for vegan / macrobiotic lunch would be fantastic option!
