fantastic food and staff - Edit
A cute little place that has meat, vegetarian, and vegan set options. The vegan set was delicious and the owner/chef explained each dish to us.

Nice vegan set - Edit
Its a very small place. The owner was alone and he was very friendly. Gave us a vegan set. Maybe there are better places in Osaka? For us was good enoush as our Hotel was like 5 minutes walk from there :D

Didn't quite get their concept - Edit
Their lunch menu consists of 4 out of 5 BEEF steak lunch set (stating that 100% healthy grown Australian beef) then just one Tofu hamburger (Stating also for vegan) on the book shelf few books of "Why We Should Eat Meat", " If You Want To Live Longer, Just Eat Meat" etc...I was confused, didn't quite understand owners beliefs and felt like intruder among beef steak eating customers...

Wonderful traditional Japanese vegan cuisine! - Edit
I just went here for the first time today, and the food was absolutely wonderful, delicious, and complex! The restaurant, however, is not longer 100% vegan, but rather it is "organic." The owners, however, are completely aware of veganism, and so long as you mention that you are "vegan," they will give you only traditional vegan Japanese cuisine.
Read moreMy vegan set menu for lunch (which ends at 2:30pm...not 3pm!) was absolutely delicious for 880 yen (a great price!~), and I will be going back tomorrow for more!~ :) They served traditional vegan Japanese okonomiyaki, which was phenomenal, and honestly impossible to find a vegan version of almost anywhere else. Lunch menu changes daily.
Despite the fact that it is no longer 100% vegan, the owners deserve credit for serving wonderful vegan and organic food in Osaka at great prices!! They even had vegan cheesecake for dessert.

The Perfect Meal!! - Edit
I've been to Genmai Harmony twice, on separate visits to Osaka, and both times my meal has been 'perfect' in every conceivable way: the freshness and flavour of the food itself, the balance of tastes and textures, the colour and presentation of the meal - almost geometrically arranged on the tray, the placement of the dressings on the salad - truly everything was just perfect. Of course this could be said about virtually all meals in Japan, but Genmai Harmony takes these standards to another level. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing, and the staff are very friendly. The price is also very reasonable for a meal of this quality. It's the perfect stop if you arrive in Osaka by Shinkansen, but well worth the subway trip from central Osaka if not. This is one of my favourite restaurants in Japan - highly recommended! Its location is correct and it's near the station and easy to find on a corner.

This Place is Fantastic - Edit
We were staying not far from this vegan restaurant. It was a little hard to find but we were so happy when we did find it. None of my family could understand Japanese and it made being vegetarian in Japan difficult, so when we found this place, we were so happy. The owners are a husband and wife and we couldn't really understand each other but we did understand the word 'vegan' and nodded vigorously. They gave us each a set menu which was very well priced and very filling. The food was traditional style Japanese but completely vegan and very tasty.

The restaurant is tiny - maybe room for about 12 at full capacity. It's definitely worth it and if we ever return to Osaka, we'll be stopping in at Genmai Harmony.
Pros: excellent food!, set menu, friendly staff
Cons: small

Nice place - Edit
On a visit to Osaka in November 2011 I had the set dinner here one evening (for 1200 Yen). The food was very nice and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing. There were 3 other people eating (all Japanese). It is a small welcoming place, note the menu is not in english. It was a bit tricky to find, note that is just across from an railway line (which is at ground level). It is great to be able to relax and not worry about hidden meat based ingredients whilst eating in Japan.

Delicious, and ALL vegan! - Edit
My husband and I headed here after doing some shopping at the new Osaka Station City building. This place is only 2 stops from Umeda so not a bad option if you are hungry and need to escape the crowds. It's close to the station though be sure to check the map thoroughly or bring it with you!
Read moreWe both had the daily dinner set with a cake and drink (around 1800 yen). It was all delicious, though the tofu steak was the best. The pumpkin azuki bean pound cake was also really good.
Pros: All vegan, Good value sets, Nice atmosphere
Cons: Small selection

Extremely delicious - Edit
Everything is really good. Even foods I am not sure I like are made delicious. The salads have very large chunks of vegetable, including whole small potatoes. And are delicious.
Read morePros: new foods all the time, organic, very near station
Cons: relatively few choices at once, tea and coffee but no juice or soy drink, station is small and hard to navigate

The map on this page is completely wrong. Please use the map on Genmai Harmony's home page instead. It's near Nishinakajima Minamigata station on the Midosuju subway line, or Nakajima on the Hankyu line.
