Best vegetarian buffet in Taipei - Edit
This was my first time visiting Guoranhui since 2018 and I feel like the quality has declined a bit perhaps due to costs associated with inflation or the pandemic. Therefore I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. It’s still a must visit restaurant if you’re vegetarian or vegan or omnivorous! The variety of foods available is amazing, and I especially enjoyed the sushi, including rolls and nigiri this time.

Sooo great!! - Edit
This place is amazing!!! They have so many vegan options!! You can get food from all around the world here. The only downside is that most of the desserts aren’t vegan and the ones that are aren’t to my taste. I wish they had at least one vegan chocolate dessert. I opted for fruit and a soy latte instead.

Beat vegetarian buffet ever - Edit
The buffet is quite pricy compared to other choices in Taipei, but it is totally worth it. There are so many choices to choose from, and each one has its own wonderful taste.

Amazing! - Edit
Huge spread and lots of vegan options! Everything with milk, eggs, garlic, and onion is clearly marked, even the deserts. Has a hot pot station, sushi, dim sum, some international dishes, tempura, drinks station, fruits, and lots more. Definitely worth it (because you can essentially eat two meals here in one hehe...). Lunch is from 11-15 and you can stay the whole time and just...eat:)

Vegan heaven! - Edit
Although about 1/2 of the dishes aren’t vegan, there are still close to 100 to choose from, including sushi, dim sum and tons more. The food is all so fresh and delicious. Best meal in Taipei! ~TWD600 for lunch per person.

Read moreFruitful Food is a vegetarian all-you-can-eat buffet located in Central Da’an district. It’s a sizable restaurant that seats 300+ people.
The selection is pretty good for vegans (vegan items are marked with a green “全素”). Some highlights include tempura, dim sum, desserts (about 7-8 vegan options), and even a coffee machine that uses soy milk.
Their menu changes regularly, which means the amount of vegan options may also change from time to time.
Pros: Quite a lot of vegan options, Good and fast service, Everything marked clearly

Not a huge spread - Edit
This is medium range compared to Jen Dow or 玉蓮齋. Bought a voucher at NT1130 for weekday lunch for 2. Nice taste but not up to fantastic level yet. Onion and garlic and alcohol used for some of the dishes and sauces. Have to look out for the label: 五辛. Chinese, western, Hong Kong and Japanese themes.

Cons: Quite limited in range

Possibly favorite restaurant in Taipei - Edit
I love this place even though it’s too pricey to be a regular spot. Even though vegans have quite a reduced selection (especially regarding desserts), there is still a lot to choose from. By far the best value is the afternoon tea, which is about 50% cheaper, but only gives you 2 hours versus 4 for the full price (~$750). Sometimes you can buy coupons for this restaurant at vegan expos. I really wish they would opt for 1 vegan froyo flavor...

Let me start by saying that this review is only for vegetarians who don’t mind milk and even egg in their food.
Read moreWhile I’m generally vegan I do bend the rules sometimes and this restaurant is worth spending the rules for. I was there with three other friends and we were amazed by the size and availability of food choices. The photos don’t do it justice. This is a very large restaurant where you walk around and everywhere you look there are buffets of high-quality dishes and many handler’s to assist. They have appetizers chef’s bakers and sous chefs at.individual stations to assist. Pretty good - Edit
I must've gone on an off day bc I found most of the food contain milk. Being vegan and allergic to dairy this sort of put a crimp in my lunch. Don't get me wrong, I by no means didn't eat. Everything I had was tasty but it would've been nice to be able to try more things. Some dishes containing milk could've been made with milk alternatives and sadly, nearly all of the desserts weren't vegan friendly. It was quite expensive but I would probably go back and maybe take a group of omnis. I feel like they would love it as everything was tasty (and a bunch of cheesy items). Everything was clearly marked and in different colors so no worries if you don't read Chinese.

Best Buffet in Taipei By Far - Edit
A decade ago all-you-can-eat buffets were a highlight of any vegetarian or vegan's trip to Taiwan. However, over the last few years as vegan restaurants joined the scene with their creative, original, and even healthy meals, and especially after the fake meat scandal a few years ago, these famous buffets began to lose their appeal. Then when Evergreen stopped catering to vegans and consistently labelling their food I mostly stopped recommending visitors to Taiwan even bother with them anymore. But Fruitful Food has changed that.
Read moreGOOD FOOD
While it's similar to the traditional all-you-can-eat buffets (like Evergreen, Spring or Jen Dow), still offering the typical Taiwanese / Japanese / Western fusion, with a good salad bar and vegetables which can be cooked to order, it also offers a much more modern, healthier menu with more emphasis on fresh food and less on deep fried food and fake meats (though they are still available, including egg-free Tempura).
CONSISTENT LABELLING
I'm always suspicious of fake meats (except at Loving Huts) however as far as I can tell Fruitful Food consistently labels what's vegan (and what contains dairy / egg) in Chinese, but the symbols are colour coded (green for vegan), easy to recognise, and I'm sure the staff would be happy to explain them. This sets Fruitful Food well apart from Evergreen, Spring and especially Jen Dow. They also serve a good range of vegan desserts, including a couple of delicious vegan cakes and vegan sorbet (from a machine).
PRICE AND RESERVATIONS
Lunch is about NT500, and dinner 600. So while it's certainly expensive for Taipei, for an all-you-can-eat deal it's excellent value. Make it your main meal of the day, and your afternoon tea or coffee. It's absolutely packed during the weekends, for which reserveations are required well in advance. I recommend visiting on a weekday lunch. It closes at 3PM, at which customers are required to leave promptly so that they can prepare for the dinner shift, so get there early if you want to enjoy a leisurly, multi-course meal.
This restaurant, along with Sophie's Garden and the Guangfu Loving Hut, should be high on the list of every visitor to Taiwan.
Pros: Best food of any buffet in Taipei, consistent labelling of dair / egg, most convenient location of any buffet
Cons: expensive (but excellent value)

Great Option - Edit
This was my first meal since coming back to Taiwan in a couple years and I hadn't eaten for a while so realizing this was one of those all you can eat places was perfect. I was blown away to see how huge the place was and how busy it was. It's a holiday today, 10/10... so that may be why their business was so good.
Read moreSome items do contain dairy, but everything is labeled in Chinese so once you learn the code you can easily confirm what's vegan.
There were a lot of great items and about half are vegan, though most of the desserts are not.
I started with salad and was happy to find many types of sprouts.
They had a number of sushi rolls that are vegan at the salad bar.
Hot food was alright. Lots of tempura and oily items, but also a bunch of good dim sum. Fresh fruit and desserts were all good.
488 at time of writing for buffet (plus tax and service charge)
Pros: Huge Place, Good Food
Cons: Not All Vegan
