I didn’t expect to be disappointed - Edit
I have gone to Ayawasi a few times years ago, when I was not vegan and I had high expectations for this visit. Sadly, I was disappointed. A friend and I ordered the Pad Thai and it was simply veggies and pasta. There was all the flavor missing in that dish. It was dry and difficult to swallow.
Read moreThe service is good, though. And my other friends were happy with their non-vegan food. But it seems so sad that vegan would mean flavorless, when we all know that is not related at all.
It is pricey! Very pricey! So the disappointment is even bigger. I think I would give it 2 stars, but out of good memories I cannot, so it gets 3.
Pros: Clearly identified vegan options, Nice staff
Cons: Pricey , Flavorless

Quality - Edit
Was pleasantly surprised. I only went there because all of the fully-vegan places on happy cow weren't open around 11 on a Monday.. I usually prefer to support fully-vegan places but anyways I was very happy with the yummy salad with quinoa and the fresh bread they served with it. It had been a while since I had eaten decent quality food on during my travels. Also it was nice to be served a salad that satiated me! It's always frustrating when you get a skimpy miserable salad, but this one was excellent, took the rest with me for later :)

Cons: A bit expensive but the plate could've served 2

Opciones veganas - Edit

Good options downtown - Edit
Very nice ceviche made of cochayuyo (a kind of algae) and fantastic sandwich. Also, generous portions and the food arrived quite quickly. However the vegan options are quite limited, so not somewhere I'd go for lunch every day.
Read moreStaff is very friendly and definitely trying their best, but (my luck obviously) I was served by a waiter that was trying a bit too hard and made it awkward (for example he dead seriously asked me and my husband wether we were a couple or just friends lol), he also repetitively forgot about our orders, but in the end it didn't spoil our experience, so would still recommend it!
Pros: creative food, lots of greens
Cons: service could be improved, not enough vegan options

Great huge salads, nice outdoor, pricey - Edit
We loved the huge "Ayawasi" salad - very fresh and comes with sauce on the side. Pad Thai was good but not more. It is pricey, with mains at around 6,200 but they have a menu del dia from 1pm at 5,000 (still on the pricey range compared to usual Chile though). Nice waiters as well.

Cons: Menu only from 1pm, Pricey

Tasty food with vegan options - Edit
We were here with 5 people because we wanted to have vegan dinner. Unfortunately the risotto and vegetarian lasagna that we wanted to order were not available that night. We ate a vegetarian burger, a vegan sandwich, a vegan salad, an integral pizza and Pad Thai. Everything was tasty, fresh and organic. There are some vegan choices. There is always the possibility to modify the food into a vegan meal. I also tasted the integral apple pie, which was for my taste too dry. The service was a bit slow but very attentive and nice. If you want to have a nice vegan dinner you can definitely choose Ayawasi.

Super yummy brunch - Edit
We came here for a breakfast/brunch. It seemed like the place was not open but it turns out there were cleaning the main seating indoors and we were told we could sit outside. They have a lovely outdoor seating area. We ordered the big brunch special that came with granola, honey, yogurt, veggie omelet, avocado (gotta have paltas), big bowl of fruit; it was a lot of food.

I'd love if this place had more vegan options BUT that really isn't the norm in Chile so I understand.
There is a parking garage nearby.
Pros: Lot of delicious vegetarian food, Beautiful outdoor seating, Excellent value
Cons: Not enough vegan options, Not much English spoken

Bad luck?!? - Edit
We tried to go there 2 times, the first one we went at 20h30 on a Wednesday (we saw the schedule here in happy cow) and a guy who seemed to be high opened the door and said they closed at 20h and was always asking how we discovered the restaurant and other silly questions! We asked for schedule and said we would return the day after. We did, at 19h and there was a slowfood conference or something and they did not serve dinner... Really?! You could have said the day before!!! Not a good experience at all! But maybe food is good, we never got the chance to experience it!
