Respond to Review of Zauberkessel
Review: We discovered the Zauberkessel by accident as it is located in a rather small city. It is the only medieval vegan restaurant in Germany that I have heard of. Although most of the time medieval food is associated with huge loads of meat, it is actually much more authentic to serve vegetarian or vegan food, as people didn't really eat much meat back then. The restaurant completely looks and feels like an old medieval tavern with every detail cautiously designed, from manually forged cutlery to handmade pottery for serving food and drinks. Candle light, knight's armor, staff dressed in historical costumes and speaking medieval dialect all help to create a very special atmosphere. All food is vegan and absolutely delicious! They offer a good choice of starters, main dishes and desserts. We tried several of them and it was really really tasty! Also they have their specially brewed varieties of beer. There are corners and tables for smaller groups and several large tables for people to mix and communicate. This is also something that makes this a really special place. The most extraordinary aspect however is that the owners of the restaurant run an animal sanctuary and the whole profit of the restaurant directly helps to finance it. We had a long conversation with them and couldn't really leave anymore. They are fascinating and very compassionate people who make the Zauberkessel a truly amazing and unusual restaurant. Absolutely worth visiting!
