Switzerland
The travel guides are not very favourable as regards vegan or vege food in Switzerland, but this very misleading.
In fact, the Swiss seem to be remarkably understanding of food needs. When you ask for vegan (and in our case, gluten free as well), they understand, they don't treat you like a freak (as would happen here in Belgium) and make a big effort. We recently stayed in the 'Alexander Tödiblick' hotel in Braunwald, which routinely offers vegetarian food but they served us fantastic vegan food. This is the second such experience, so I conclude that this is a great country for vegans to visit.
